Ok it's only the Community Shield but as far as im concerned theirs no so thing as a friendly when we play the Rags.

But will we be classed as favourites?, I think we should be.
We have signed Aguero, Savic and Clichy although none may start the game.
The rags have acquired Young, De Gea and Jones but have lost Van de Saar, Rat boy Neville and Scholes

Overall on the squads I honestly feel just we have more quality when you do a who would you swap question on the positions team to team.

Pre season is a difficult barometer to take into the equation but Inter today was the closest to replicate what's coming so I say confidently we start favourites next week.

What do you reckon?

Can't wait, got me and my dad a ticket, first view of Aguero and against Manure.
Got to be favorites after doing them a few months back.

No. They are the Premier League champions and Champions League runners up. They are the favourites.

hope so, old rednose said we would not be favorites against utd in his lifetime...so if we are,.could be jelly n icecream next week then!

were we not fav for the first leg of the carling cup at our place,i'm sure the bookies had us down for fav but that seems like 20 years ago

Until we win the Premier League title, they will always be the favourites, unless we are in a situation whereby they are languishing in the league and we are top or something.

Speaking of which, the rags generally have a fairly slow start to the season. If we can start well, we might just get a lead over them which, in the end they might struggle to make up if we remain consistent.. I'm not saying we will win the league, but finishing above them will surely put us in the top 2.

They usually have a sketchy pre season too though and that's not the case this time round, I think they will hit the ground running as will we and Chelsea, no one will want any team pulling away early this time round, there are really 6 top teams this season, something there has never been before

Yeah, it's scary. Although the more favoured title contenders are City/Chelsea/Utd, all the top 6 wouldn't do badly in Europe at all.

Man utd will be favourites purely because of the media etc....
However, if you're asking who's more likely to win, it's more likely us. We're an improved squad compared to the one who beat them in the fa cup. They've lost veterans that'll lose their cohesion through experience - Scholes, van der sar and Gary never (good at football) and made young signings.
