I guess a Yank shooting another might not make their equivalent of Northwest Tonight in the States. But the fact a well paid sportsman murders his girlfriend then blows his grey matter all over the floor infront of his coach and manager is a tad odd and thus maybe newsworthy.

I certainly agree, just saying that nothing that happens over the border shocks me anymore. Maybe if it was beckham that did it, I would be surprised.

Canadian wrestler Chris Benoit did something similar a few years back, only it was asphyxia rather than gun shots and he took his son's life too. Doctors theorised that Benoit's wrestling career had led to many concussions caused by head trauma and that this severe brain damage may have been what caused him to lose control. I wonder if this case will turn out the same.

First thought is "what a selfish twat" leaving his kid without a mother, but you have to think there is some serious mental illness there to make a man do what this lad did.
Heart goes out to the family and especially the little one, hope there is someone who can take good care of her.
