NHS Pay Award, letter to Johnson from my union, please sign if you can

It is a vocation , why after all they have been through this last 17 months people can still undervalue them is staggering

My doctor has serious long covid , brain, lung and heart damage , he was nearly in tears , his friends, fellow front line staff have died and the surgery is so depleted he feels he has to work when he shouldnt do , fuck off imboceles
it seems slightly like opportunism. NHS is flavour of the month workers demand more pay
What about firefighters , police do they have to wait for a big issue in there area to deserve more than the standard rise. No contract is signed with any guarantee of pay rises and they are all signed willingly.

Its 10 years of austerity for NHS workers, same as a lot of other people
there are 100,000 vacancies
20% of nurses can retire in the next 5 years
the pay needs to be brought back into line to what it was circa 2010

if not,the problem will get worse and worse

the thread say sign " if you can "
its your prerogative not to obviously

I'am on shit money,£9.88 per hour

its been ok to cough up money to MP's ,8 times in the previous 10 years though

It’s like you didn’t read the last paragraph of my post. Try comprehending what I’m saying.

Anyhow many people have done a great job during the pandemic, many of them are on shit wages. It would be nice if people could re-evaluate those people and make a stand together. But they won’t so I’m sorry I ain’t having it.

I would like you to have a pay rise
I would like supermarket staff to have one
I think care workers both public and private should have a huge one.

If those that are doing okay like GP’s or doctors and anyone on high earnings supported that and god forbid even forego a rise themselves that would be a genuine gesture and a lack of self interest. It would be much harder for a govt to refuse such a plea. People could even take action, but fuck all like that will happen.

I ain’t supporting a motion during this period that gives wealthy folks a pay rise. That money could go to people who are desperate.

Anyone who doesn’t agree with the basic principle of helping from the ground up imho are selfish wankers.

Iike I said I very much hope you get a pay rise, that is my genuine view.

To all those for increasing pay, what is an acceptable pay for a nurse? Say:
Ward nurse
A and e nurse
Outpatient nurse

lots of argument always for constant increases, never any discussion as to what the level should be.

All too easy to argue for more pay for nurses. Who would argue with that? Another thing properly costing it.

how about a voluntary nhs surplus? Tax payer can elect to pay additional sum which is specifically put towards nurses pay. Taxpayer to get 20% back on any amount paid.

You sign up to be a nurse / doctor you know what that comes with and happily sign the contract on offer at the time
You are employed by the government who have fuck all money , what %is reasonable ?
All GPs are self employed.

Ok to counter that, they know what they sign up for but then the government change the pension you signed up for halfway through as welll, do you think that’s ok as well? They can’t have it both ways, imagine your mortgage company changing the length of your mortgage because of the crash in 2008 and their mismanagemen, the government have had plenty of money in the past, hell they bailed out the banks with our money.

Done. As a retired Civil Servant, I'm with you all the way. When Herr Thatcher tore up our pay agreement in 1981 (the first public sector one to be attacked), I was a Collector of Taxes, at the sharp end of bringing in money to the Exchequer. I became a "mindless militant" (the fuhrer's own words) when I took part in industrial action, culminating in being suspended for 6 weeks for doing so. Ironic, as I had voted for them in the previous election! Surprisingly, that was the one and only time I have done so.
I read most of the "political" threads, but make few comments as I leave this to the "experts".
