A 21 year old woman in Northern Ireland was handed a suspended sentence after buying drugs online to bring about a miscarriage in 2014 aged 19 because she couldn't afford travel to England for a termination...

No idea how i didn't know, but i had no idea abortions were illegal in Northern Ireland except in matters of life and death. In this day and age that is mental (aka fucking backwards)

In the early hours of last Thursday morning, just minutes past midnight, the majority of Northern Ireland’s politicians voted to keep the country’s abortion law exactly as it is: one of the most restrictive in Europe. And so the near-total ban on abortion remains in place, even in cases of rape, incest, or even when the fetus won't survive after birth.

The vote was in defiance of a court ruling in November last year which found that banning abortion in these two scenarios was a breach of human rights.

It also flies in the face of public opinion: 68 per cent of people recently polled support the legalisation of abortion following sex crime or fatal fetal abnormality.

And it follows years of consultations, working groups, hazy government guidelines and condemnations by doctors.

Bloody hell have they built up the pyre yet then, how dare they compound her misery, no fucker has that right to impose on another like that, least of all the fucking state.
If she has been reckless and this is her 3rd or 4th then maybe hard advice on contraception but if it is a one off this is just another book note as to why i despise "the system".

Of course she should be punished. Failure to punish people for breaking laws leads to anarchy, with everyone deciding what laws to obey or disobey.

The laws of a country are for its people to decide. In Poland, another EU country, the elected government proposes to strengthen the already almost total ban on abortions.

The innocent party in this is of course the baby, who should always and without exception be given priority and protection. A baby can't do anything wrong and should never be punished for the actions of another.
