Rodri isn’t fast, you don’t need to be fast to be a top midfielder.
Zzz. Rodri hasn’t played with with a midfield that’s legs have fallen off.

But Pep would be able to shape him to be even better than he is nowA few years younger he wasn’t the player he is today.
Can guarantee our position will change on this after tomorrow.
This kid doesn't seem like a panic buy to me. From what I’ve seen on Youtube. Though, that’s the only place I’ve watched him he looks like a technical and intelligent player, not some headless chicken. He seems to have quick decision-making and solid passing, which is crucial.Stinks of panic buying, if he was the one we wanted why has it took 31 days to trigger his release clause.
Rice is fast player, or Rodri, David Silva or Prime gundi? All we need is brain. If this lad has no pace he will change nothing.
We won the treble with Rodri and Gundo in midfield. Gundo was slow as fuck then, so not sure what your argument is. There’s a difference between being slow and intensity.Zzz. Rodri hasn’t played with with a midfield that’s legs have fallen off.
Nico, or a player like him, can help change the way we play. I fucking hopeLooks decent enough but he really isn't going to make much difference unless we change the way we play a bit.
Surely he'd be brought in because he can play the manager wants us to play? We've gone from the best press resistant team in Europe to one that can't do it. Kovacic is a prime example. Decent enough player, shite DM and not press resistant like a rodri or fernandinho.Looks decent enough but he really isn't going to make much difference unless we change the way we play a bit.
Pretty sure people said similar about Nunes. If this is the guy they wanted why was it not done in the first 10 days, it’s not like we’re desperate. Only ever heard of this guy being linked with us a few days ago. This kid doesn't seem like a panic buy to me. From what I’ve seen on Youtube. He's not even a true defensive midfielder as far as I can see, maybe his 188 cm height tricks us into thinking so. He looks more like an 8 or even a 10 at times. No wonder we were linked with that Real Betis guy too. Maybe we actually want both. One as a backup DM when Rodri plays, and this guy as someone who can operate alongside him or even as a 10. He’s got creativity in him, at least from what I’ve seen.
We need to sign him and hope he turns out great. Finding gems always requires some luck, just like when we struck gold with KDB and David Silva.
Marginal upgrade on Kovacic perhaps but he's not the player that's going to change anything on his own. Might be ok next to Kovacic though.Nico, or a player like him, can help change the way we play. I fucking hope
I see little to suggest he's going to be a huge upgrade on Kovacic. Might be a bit better but he's not going to make the difference without a change in tactics.Surely he'd be brought in because he can play the manager wants us to play? I think he's an improvement on Kovacic, but at the very least, having those 2 at the base is better than what we do nowMarginal upgrade on Kovacic perhaps but he's not the player that's going to change anything on his own. Might be ok next to Kovacic though.
2 DMs might be better than one of course but that means leaving a more attacking player out. He may well be an improvement on Kovacic but our problems go much deeper than that.I think he's an improvement on Kovacic, but at the very least, having those 2 at the base is better than what we do now
He has probably been the worst of the lot for being caught out of position in that role this year in my opinionGundogan knows how to play the role. He did it very well in 2019 for the last 1/3 of the season. He just cannot get to where he needs to be. He was still slow then but more mobile. Difference is, he had peak KDB & David Silva around him with Bernardo and Sterling pressing on the wings. This midfield has no intensity at all. Whilst we would be better with him even Rodri wouldn’t significantly improve our chances against a top side now.
I've never seen him play pal, so unlike some on here I can't pretend to be excited by the lad. My point was more surely if we are buying him it's because the manager feels he can do and play how he wants his players to play. I'll have to take your word about his ability.I see little to suggest he's going to be a huge upgrade on Kovacic. Might be a bit better but he's not going to make the difference without a change in tactics.
