At last some new blood in midfield, tbh I like many don't know much about him, but I read on here that he is press resistant. If this is true then that is very welcome, I'm not expecting miracles and it could well be next season before we see the best of him, but all the same this is very good news.

Bloody hell, lads, shall we let him settle before we turn on him.
Based on some of the comments here, this lad will have my backing no matter what, as long as it takes. We have become a truly spoiled bunch. Some on here think they know better than Pep and Txiki. Yes, I know they don't always get it right, but 99% they do.

I'm not sure why people aren't more positive about this - seems to tick all of the boxes and eerily similar to the Dias move. He's technically good enough as a baseline which is something you can't say for Nunes or Phillips - elite in the air, able to play and influence the game as an 8, tall and rangy which should help with those loose balls etc.

Speaking personally, I'm just working through the obligatory bluemoon stages of emotion when it comes to transfers.

1. Off my tits with excitement. Youtube videos galore.
2. Denial. We won't get him.
3. Angry at the club for not buying him sooner, failing to buy him at all or that he's shit.
4. Depression at how poor the club has been (ignore recent unprecedented success and records)
5. Acceptance - recognise we are signing another 2nd rate midfielder who will come in and end up at right back within 9 months and that the club is in deep crisis
6. Buy a shirt with his name on and stick a poster of him on the wall as he leads us to CL and FA Cup glory.

We have tracked him since he was 14, but he is a panic buy. Don't think your facts will change anyone's mind ;).
I don’t think it’s a panic buy, but for me is he better than what we have and will he push us onto the next level? A bit like with the unproven centre backs I’m not convinced.

I’d argue if everyone’s fit and in form he doesn’t get into the strongest midfield. Looks a good player, but I’m not sure

The real fucking kicker is that we could have done this a month ago and he’d already be settled in and familiar with the team going into this run of awful fixtures.

Instead we seem to have wasted a month with bids that weren’t going to be accepted before paying the release clause amount anyway, and by the time he’s found his feet our season will probably be over.
Well you're a real bundle of joy aren't ya Dom? ;-)

Absolutely he is - I don't think it can be understated how bad Gundogan and Kovacic have been from a defensive perspective. Just having somebody physical that's 11 years younger than Gundo is a boost
