No offence intended to you but that is complete shite.

Rags, Chelsea, and others have proven time and again that being out of the CL doesn't mean half as much as us fans think it does. We all imagine no top player would go to a team that isn't in the CL because of the honour and prestige of the competition, but the vast majority will go where the money is and that's that.

Plus we have the draw of Pep, Haaland, etc.

Any player with half a brain can see they'd still have a better long-term chance of winning the CL and lots of other trophies with City than with almost any other team in Europe, even if they had to make do with one year out of the competition. So I'm confident we would have no problem whatsoever tempting a Wirtz or a Musiala to join us even if we finish outside top 4/5.
I like the way you say no offence intended but then go on to say what I've said is shit just because you personally disagree.

Anyhow, I disagree with you. I get the point about some players moving for money, but we ain't united or chelsea (who are happy to bring in players who are driven by cash and will accept playing for a less competitive club).

We generally want the RIGHT player, a player with the right mentality, someone more motivated by success. Like it or not, CL qualification means a lot to those type of players. You can say what you like but if there is a direct choice between City in the CL or City not in the CL, those players would choose the City being in it.

The real fucking kicker is that we could have done this a month ago and he’d already be settled in and familiar with the team going into this run of awful fixtures.

Instead we seem to have wasted a month with bids that weren’t going to be accepted before paying the release clause amount anyway, and by the time he’s found his feet our season will probably be over.
Maybe if we got kicked out of the champions league we would have waited until the summer.

According to the Barca director this is one the biggest mistakes Barca have made in letting Nico go. He must be valued highly. Peps wanted him for ages.

“Nico Gonzalez. For me he is an extraordinary player, but he was not given full confidence in the first team,” he said.

“Xavi decided not to renew his contract. It seemed to me and still seems to me to be a monumental mistake.”

Not sure exactly how adaptable he is, but based on a little bit of reading it seems he may be capable of playing a role higher up the pitch when Rodri returns. This should free up Kovacic to play his more natural game too without leaving a massive hole in midfield everytime he does.

These people literally get paid actual money for their "expert opinions"?! He seriously can't see a reason why we'd want to bring in a midfielder right now?

They're not paid for expert opinions, they're paid money to give any opinion that will get people talking about them.

Remembers the last player we signed Porto.

We should definitely postpone his debut until the Madrid home game.

I do hope this goes through...
I don't know all that much about this lad.
I know we've chased him a few times over the years so that's a good sign.
What I do know is that I don't believe we can make top 4 with our current midfield.
There may be other options, but its deadline day and this is the one the club have chosen to pursue.
So I feel like this just has to happen and hope he hits the ground running.
Otherwise I think our Top 4 hopes are greatly diminished.
