Enjoyed our performance a lot. As has been said, we played some scintillating football.
Otamendi had what has become a typical display from him. 90% outstanding and then sadly moments of severe lack of concentration.
Having rewatched the game, he's pretty culpable for the first. It's a shame because the defending was typical of him.
He followed the ball again and ran out of position, as the cross came in, there was a huge hole where he should have been stood.
It's not a horrific mistake, but it's one he often makes.
It's a mental thing, you're tought or coached as a kid not to follow the ball as a centre back, if a forward drops the ball off, you need to drop into position. Otamendi will all of a sudden chase the ball, no idea why, as 9 out of 10 times he doesn't.
It's almost like he knows not to do it, but every now and then just can't help himself.
If he could cut his giddy five a side style defending out of his game, he'd be excellent.
He's exceptional on the ball. His passing really is very aggressive and he brakes the lines a lot.
I'd like to see him along side a fit and firing Kompany and two top quality centre backs. Perhaps then we'd see a little less of his rash side.
