Dunne needs to wing his neck in,isnt he supposed to be part of the centre backs union, when do players from the same position attack other players like that
He should be pointing out how the lack of defence minded players means the centre backs get pulled into positions they don't want to be in all the time
It wasn't a good night for Oto,in some ways, but if he hadn't kicked Falcoa maybe he scores and the pen was saved
The 2nd goal was very poor but City have kept enough clean sheets with him in the side that he has some leeway when playing the highest scorers in Europe, hes entitled to enjoy his night and the result the same as the other players

Dunne was telling the truth, fuck lying about it. And if Dunne hadn't been teling te truth, the mic would be on Ferdinand & Gerrard, who would be far worse.

Dunne wouldn't like looking at some of his own performances and those typical rushes of blood he had himself
He was far more like Otomendi than he realises or would like to admit

Yup,and to be fair he was telling the truth as he saw it,we all did,,but he will always be the leading scorer in City's history......for own goals that is,so far be it for him to criticise centre halves really

I think it's more agent talk with the Real Madrid link. He is a decent squad player for us and he is Europa League level/ lower Champions League level but not a player you can rely on as starting centre back.

that is a very flimsy defence!!

but seriously, you obviously rate him, do you not worry about his positional sense?

He is dogshit and Real Madrid are welcome to him. So rash it's not even a joke anymore

I've tried to like him and had thought there was a player in there, somewhere. I can still see his mid-air lunge last night and it was pathetic. I think last night was the final straw and If Madrid want him then he can go with my best wishes.

Daz777 posted his stats on 114, its there to see
You cant can write a player off after facing easily Citys toughest defensive task of the season ,most of the Monaco team seemed capable of picking up the ball and driving deep into the City half, the no 10 could cut you open with a pass or a dribble past 3 players
They closed down with ease and never looked tired at all, playing the ball around at the back had no effect on their stamina

Why did he just stop running when the ball came over the top for their second goal? he might not have got there but he didn't try at all...

2nd goal: Mbappe ran off Stones. Not Ota. Ota was correctly in line with Stones when the pass was made, its a curling run and Sure Ota doesn't have the speed to make up the difference once Mbappe curls behind him. But that doesn't make it his fault. Stones had Mbappe in front of him, saw him make the cross run behind Ota but didn't adjust. That Ota isn't as fast as Mbappe is NOT an error.

3rd goal was all Stones getting beat by Falcao.

Ota gave away a penalty and on a different play, tried to stop Mbappe early but the ball skipped them both and Mbappe left him for dead. So yes he made some errors.

.

i think there are a couple of errors that, while not directly leading to goals, show that he is still not thinking very well. The moment he rushed the attacker and turned easily (half way line?) and where he did an air dive trying to intercept (and missed) and left himself with too much to do to get back in position.

I think you're too generous in your analysis of the 2nd goal; this was a simple switch run by both centre forwards, trying to cause a bit of confusion in the centre halves by swapping marking responsibilities; old as the hills for 2 up top. Ota should have been far more aware that his man had ran over towards stones' area and that Mbappe had moved away from Stones to Ota's area. As you say, the lack of pace meant he was doomed but very much both players fault.

the third goal is, as you say, mostly on stones but watch Ota's indecision as he runs back and then Stones gets beat and he still isnt sure where to stand; go in to make a challenge or cover the square ball. he does neither.

thought the covering for the pen was naive and lazy.

but yes, he does make good challenges as you say and he is a very busy defender. He's not shit, no way, but he's not good enough for a top european team imo.

Anyway, i've said it a few times on here, he's so much like John Terry it's untrue.
