Great player, but its clear we had no interest in being Madrid’s woman and training one of their players up for a year, only for them to take him off us again next summer for whatever paltry buy back fee they put in his contract - and we’re back at square one.

To give them credit - even the Rags refused to be played like that, and backed out of the deal.

Clearly Tottenham have no such issue, and are happy to accept their place in the European order as Madrid’s feeder club.

I’m happy we didn’t go anywhere near that deal - however good the player may be.

Tagliafico is one of those signings you can't get excited about until he starts showing it on the pitch for us. Unless you are so fed up with Mendy that any LB will do.

Nothing stands out about him, in terms of his career trajectory and abilities. He is Argentina's starting LB. But then you remember that so was Rojo.

This is not a criticism. LB is just one of those positions where it's really hard to get someone world class.
