Tagliafico is one of those signings you can't get excited about until he starts showing it on the pitch for us. Unless you are so fed up with Mendy that any LB will do.
Nothing stands out about him, in terms of his career trajectory and abilities. He is Argentina's starting LB. But then you remember that so was Rojo.
This is not a criticism. LB is just one of those positions where it's really hard to get someone world class.

At this point, we don't really need someone that's world class. We won the league with Zinchenko and Delph playing there.
What we need is someone reliable, consistent and an actual LB playing in their right position.
Tagliafico ticks all those boxes and has the ability to be much more than that too. He's the most rounded option available right now - good defensively and offensively, aggresive, tidy on the ball and will be a willing runner for the team.
If we can get him for the £22m or so rumoured, he would be a very good buy.
I seem to remember the British media championing the signing of Christian Poulsen - as a 'master stroke' ! How did that work out?
Can't be any worse than "Ruby"My only concern is what shit nickname Karen decides to give him.
