But he could move there to play in midfield and is definitely good enough to be a starter, they've needed replacements of quality after offloading Ziyech and Van De Beek

I remember Toma saying that he had heard that we were looking at trying to bring in a left back after seeing the display on Sunday but that it would depend on us moving Zinchenko out. I assumed the Telegraph had just pulled one of the latest names of left backs somebody on here would like to sign.

Zab wasn’t rapid but he had enough pace to get the job done. I mean the reason we ended up letting him go is he got old and was running in treacle by the end. Like it or not you need some pace to play full back as no defender is perfect and eventually a player will dribble past you and you need pace to recover the situation.

It’s why Mendy is such a liability for us cos they just get past him and that is it they get a free cross cos he has no recovery pace to salvage the situation.

Loan him to Ajax in part exchange, if he makes the improvements he could from featuring in a side as a regular starter we can either fit him back in next summer or reap the monetary benefit of those improvements by selling him. If he's not up for a move that sees him feature more regularly in a position more suited to his skillset (as well as occasional cover as LB if Ajax fill that gap) and would rather masquerade as a proper footballer at this club and play once or so a month... do we really need him anyway?
 
Id be surprised if Zinchenko did not jump at the chance of playing for Ajax. Not your ordinary Dutch club.

If this was the Zabaleta thread people on here would be moaning he wasn't fast, that's the point I'm making, being rapid isn't everything or the teams would all be full of Olympic sprinters. I'd rather a Full Back with decent pace who can defend when required, and run all day.

You've just gone from saying pace isn't the be all and end all to saying "I'd rather a full-back with decent pace who can defend when required, and run all day". Make your mind up. For the record I never said they need to be rapid, they just need pace to get them out of sticky situations.

True but the poster I was replying to was arguing that Ajax might consider letting Tagliafico go with only a few days to replace him if we offered them Zinchenko in return to play there.

He hasn't always been so slow as he? I thought he was pretty rapid at Monaco?

In fairness not many squads can boast having more than 2 good strikers for a single place in the side. Just some seriously bad luck we have found ourselves in this position.
