Supposedly been withdrawn from the Asia squad and is off to Bayern for £8m.

What are thoughts? What did we sign him for again? £16m?

I say £10m and it's a deal.

Can't let him go unless we have de Rossi or Martinez in the bag

snap, would hate to see nigel leave played an important part last season when yaya was pushed forward.one of my favourites.

We signed him for c. £17.5m.
He helped win us the FA Cup and the league and qualify for the Chumps League.
He has a year (?) left on his contract.

I'd say £8m is probably about right since (and I mean this in the nicest way) he's a depreciating asset who Bobby clearly doesn't see as a first choice and is not AAA class, such as, for instance, DDR.

Rest assured that we will replace him should he go.

been a great player for us but the team has moved on a lot while he's been here and now now he doesn't fit the team IMO, thanks Nige and good luck.

Completely agree.

Where is the rumour from?

From the Daily Express, its written by a by a "Daily Express reporter"...

NIGEL DE JONG is set to be left behind by Manchester City as they fly out to China today, with Bayern Munich closing in on an £8m deal.
City want to avoid losing the defensive midfielder for free when his contract expires next summer.
De Jong is understood to be on £65,000 a week but wants an increase to about £100,000 and warned City that if a compromise could not be reached he would run down his contract.

I really do not want to see NDJ go at all, but £8M would be an absolute fucking joke - great player, great team and club man, and when you consider the kind of fees that other clubs receive for great players £8M would be utterly mad

Bayern are minted. £10m minimum.

That's tantamount to saying we should have a minimum fee for players we bid for, because we're also minted. £8m De Jong is a fair price.

either de rossi or martinez must be in the bag or this is gonna be one of the worst mistakes in transfer history

dont tell me razak is taking over!!!

i have faith in the board , but they are either nuts or playing a blinder
i am staring to have problems breathing....

We do! Every player we're interested in gets a few million added on their value :)

IMO it could be the right time for De Jong to move on, and you'd expect we have someone lined up to replace him.

£8-10m with De Rossi or Martinez coming in would be fine by me.

It's also 8 million more than we get if we let him run down his contract. He isn't gonna get a new one being honest...

If the club let him go for less than 10, without an immediate player lined up to come in... we have dropped a massive bollock I'm afraid. He will go on to make 40+ appearances for Bayern next year and people will wonder why we sold him...

We have to sell him otherwise he goes on a free - he has apparantly said to City if they dont find a compromise he will sit out his contract and go on a free - if true and on that basis DJ need to be sold now sadly

The massive dropped bollock is on the part of City administrators not sorting out a fookin replacement which is fairly indicative of our transfer policy which is starting to look shambolic
