I agree about selling de Jong. He is a good player, a fan's favourite and has played in a World Cup final but he isn't worth the salary he wants . Kolo as well because he wants to be a regular starter, even though his wage demands to sign for either Besiktas or Al Hilal is a concern.

Nige does as well but he isn't the captain. He does provide bite in the midfield but he isn't a key player in our side.

No-one knows what Vinnies salary now is.He may be happy on £100K,he may be happier on £175K.
Does anyone know what Nige`s salary is now and what he`s looking for ??

We've created situations like De Jong's ourselves. He wants £100,000 a week which is madness but why shouldn't he with the wages we throw out to average players like Santa Cruz and Bridge (both paid more than De Jong). The club needs to sanitize the wage structure and if it means starting to play hardball with fringe players, so be it. I love De Jong but there are plenty of good midfielders out there who could play either a fringe role like he does now or possibly even oust Barry as first choice while earning the sort of wages he is on. Arturo Vidal is much better than De Jong and is reported to earn around £48,000 a week at Juventus, which is probably less than our entire squad except the kids.

Yep, it's not the 100k per week that's such a big problem with Nige, it's the 4/5 year deal that he will want.

I'd bet quite heavily that if we could get him to agree to a 2 year deal at 100k we'd be happy to offer it him.

Anybody coming to Dubai for a holiday right now is crazy. It's been over 42degC every day this month (which is unbearable) and it's Ramadan, so no eating or drinking allowed in public during daylight hours. People living here are desperate to escape.

It's called running your contract down. Can he leave in January under the Webster ruling? Does anyone know? Even if he stays until next summer he'll be able to negotiate a decent signing on fee with his new club as no transfer fee will be involved. The players and their agents have all the power!!

Nigel is a top player in my opinion and I would love to see him sign a new contract. I don't know why he won't but that is up to him. Reminds me of the Distin saga a few years back, he ran down his contract and he believed he was moving to a better club. Things don't always work out. If he does honour his contract in full and leave he will have my gratitude for the part he has played in City's rise to the top and I would wish him every sucess at whatever club he decided to join. We can't force people to work for us but IMO he has done nothing wrong.
