Nine years ago today - FA Cup semi-final against United

Amazing day.

Got picked up outside Atlas bar on Deansgate at 7.30am and the first thing that was handed to me was a can of Cider!

Minibus parked in The Flag pub carpark in Watford next to the train station about 11.30 and walked to Walkabout pub which was hired out by a supporters group. After that we got the train from Watford to Wembley. It was a bit hairy as both us and rag fans were on the platform and then a train pulled up and out walked the entire Stoke team! Got into Wembley about an before kickoff as I wanted to soak up the atmosphere and the concourse was rocking(I was in block 542).

Doing the Poznan before kickoff was incredible. Our end was shaking. Didn't really feel nervous at all during the game and those 2 missed chances by Berbotov convinced me it was our day.

When Yaya scored it just went mental and I ended up about 4 rows down(I still have the scar on my leg!).

Full time I just slumped in my seat, exhausted but buzzing at the same time. Got the train back to Watford and back in The Flag waiting for the other lads. Me and my step brother sat outside talking to random blues. Didn't see any rags at all.

Left Watford about 10.30 and the minibus driver bombed it all the way back to Manchester. Got home just before 2am but instead of going to bed I rewatched the entire match as I still couldn't get my head round I was there and I was still on a high.

One of the best 24 hours if my life

Great day... thought we stood off United for the first 30 mins but once we pushed up we dominated them. We were well on top and should have killed them off... then when the ginger pig got sent off we got a bit edgy and the last 10 minutes seemed like 10 hours. Some vile Rags on Wembley way after the game - fat fuckers with cockney accents.

About as nervous as I have ever been for a game in my 55 years of going to games. I really did not think we would win. The Green Man was full so we went in the Greyhound. Although I was sober I don't remember much of the match, but it was the day we laid down our marker and we have gone strength to strength ever since. Mancini did the job and put the rags in their place. The trip back was a dream, seeing the shite fans at the services was one of the most pleasurable experiences of my life. All of them were heads down and couldn't look us in the eye.

Awesome day!! that day convinced me we’d arrived to dine at the top table :), kicked off big time with the shithouse rags as well

biggest difference between then and now (which is a little bit sad if anything) I remember we filled our end much before they filled theirs. Same for that years Cup final. It was a big deal and all the City fans were there early to savour the atmosphere and the whole day experience. Compare that to this year for the League Cup final v Villa it was like a normal league game - everyone piles into their seats with a few mins to go but Villa (in a position like ours 10 years ago) were all there early to savour the day.
Its great how we have progressed, but a little sad at the blasé attitude to it as well
