I liked the look of him in pre season.

Wouldn't be the first time that a media source had got the wrong end of the stick. They haven't added Jelavic, the other trialist in Austria, though so it's possible there's something to it. Normally they would have announced it though...

Did you watch EVERY pre-season game Niall? The 'joke' comments suggests not. My 'different league' reference was to do with readiness to play NOW. I like Suarez too but we have huge competition is his spot, and Limerick is hardly the acid test eh? We need a player like Nir Biton as cover NOW.
As far as pace goes, there are many attributes to a good midfielder. Has Gareth Barry succeeded in the Premier League?
