I've put myself on the CL cup scheme this year but I'm dreading the cost of ticket prices.

The Champions League is the next step, the next hurdle, the final frontier. It's where the next proper glory is coming from. when we pit ourselves against, and beat, the best in the world. We are set up to challenge for, and win, the thing, which would make us the most lauded team in the world. It will fulfil the Sheikh's dream. And mine.
You'd think we were Blackburn Rovers or Celtic the way some of you people talk on here.
Some seriously flawed logic doing the rounds as well. People saying that they're not going because UEFA are corrupt and FFP is a joke. So in essence "I'm going to show my displeasure at UEFA sanctioning City with fines, by withholding my own match day contributions to the club". You're not thumbing your nose at UEFA, you're thumbing your nose at City.
Anyway whatever people can choose what they want. I can see this is the new cause celebre for the loudest moaners.
How dare you mock 110, its the best block in the ground :pSkashion said:Atmosphere is why I go to live football. If I just wanted to watch football, I'd watch it on the telly rather than pay £700 a year for a shite view in 110.Mister Appointment said:the lack of atmosphere

by paying say £50 for a ticket doesn't a chunk of that go to UEFA and the rest to the home club?

No. City take all the ticket money. Why would UEFA take a chunk of it ?
In fact when do football clubs ever give away their gate receipts ? Do the PL take a % of money for PL games too ?

well in the FA Cup , the FA take 10% of gate receipts with the 2 clubs getting 45% each
thought UEFA did something similar?
Has anyone actually said they're boycotting it i.e. trying to hurt UEFA, by not attending? Not the general feel I'm getting. I'm certainly not boycotting or protesting. It's just going to be very easy to make my excuses not to go. I could go to some, none or all of the matches, but I feel under no obligation. If some super fans feel they get one over me because of it, I think I can just about bear the jibes...Mister Appointment said:So even if UEFA do the same, sure you can see that by boycotting the game you're harming City, the team etc.
I've got no gripe whatsoever with anyone who can't afford to go. That's a different argument to be made. However those who are simply complaining that UEFA have rigged the competition or that they punished City for FFP or that they don't like the atmosphere, the tourists, etc at CL games. Well IMO those people are doing the club a disservice. We wanted to get here, now we're here we should try and enjoy the football that comes with it rather than complaining about everything else.
I guess this is a microcosm of the entire debate about the changes in football. The way I see it, all that matters is the quality of the match itself. But many people decry modern football because of the wages players get paid, the commercialisation of the sport, the all seater stadiums lacking atmosphere, the food, etc.

That's it for me too really. I have lost all respect for the tournament - not that I had much in the first place. It's about as interesting as playing Napoli in a pre-season friendly. I might go I suppose, but I am really not that fussed. Perhaps if we by some means top the group and get through the following round it might get interesting. But I am not expecting that and won't be gutted if it doesn't happen. I will be gutted if we cock the league up by worrying about CL matches.
