Straight from the horse's mouth, allegedly. That presumably means that none of our existing quartet will be leaving. That's fine by me. Imagine Sergio and Mario with another year's PL experience behind them. Will be a lethal partnership with Carlos and Edin as support strikers, when needed.

Personally I'd be reading Bob's comments as "none of my current strikers will be leaving on the cheap".

More than strikers we need more variety in our service to the forwards, too many teams sussed us out on the road and we had no answer but to try and pass it through them. A central midfielder with passing range and a winger or two would add variety so we're not over reliant on Silva's precise passing.

All that said, I think Mancini was just using diplomatic talk (and telling suitors that there are no bargains to be had) and if we got a really good offer for a couple of our strikers we'd be open to a deal.

yeah, no new strikers are needed today

but if bayern really offer us 20+ for dzeko, you think we'll turn that down??? no way.

and then we would definitely need a new striker

I would be happy with:
CB who is versatile
A deep lying playmaker
Winger

Agreed.

Although I think we are currently sell our selves short at CB. Kolo is a good player and whilst Joleon was a lot more effective last year (10-11) I believe it was because we were defending deeper. With the higher line we are playing now, the emphasis on position, the small amount of crosses we have to defend, I believe Kolo will be an asset as a back or starter.

So the question is why should we get a world class (not saying you said that - others certainly have) when we have got 3 great ones and it will probably only piss offKolo, and by association Yaya? I really don't want to piss Yaya off. I reckon the reports linking him with the move away are a load of crap, but I don't care as he is clearly our best player and we won't be able to replace him. There is quite 'literally' not another player like him.

Aguero Dzeko Balotelli and a fully committed Tevez is probably the best set of 4 strikers at any club in the world. If Dzeko does go we replace him with RVP or Cavani.

If Dzeko goes it has to be someone like him for me. So out of RVP and Cavani, then I'd choose the later. This year we were overly reliant on playing the ball along the ground with intricate passing, as the QPR game and others have shown (ours and the barcelona v chelsea springs to mind) having someone to aim a cross at, even when you are dominating possession, can be extraordinarily helpful.

If we get RVP all our strikers will be very similar. I'm not sure I see the point. Yes he'd be an upgrade, but we would truly be locking ourselves into one style of play.

I agree,we don't need to alter our frontline,it's superb as it is.

However,if there was an opportunity to get Falcao......

Really pleased if Dzeko stayed. But we have to get a couple of direct wingers in to get the ball across to him early. We must play to the lads strengths!
