Non City games at Maine Road

Would that away game at Maine Rd been against Newcastle in the Cup early 70s due to St James park being closed due to fan trouble,I was at the match we lost 2-0.
Good spot.
I recall that game.... the Geordies were 3-0 down at home to Forest..... the fans invaded the pitch and then won 4-3. FA ordered the game to be played again, which the Geordies won and had to play away due to the incident in the next round.
As you said, we lost 2-0 but spanked them within a week or so 4-0 in the league at Maine Road!

Remember watching the England U21 vs Italy U21 at Maine Road in 1978, think they won 2-1 that night, and Barnes got kicked black and blue.............

I was also at that one and it was drawn as an away game as you said.
Wasn't the friendly against Jamaica in 1998 hosted by the Jamaican FA and therefore an away game?
Yes Newcastle game as mentioned by @xgorton. Jamaica - that was Jamaica at home at Maine Road as well.

There have been some FAC ties at Maine Rd not involving City (as well as FAC semis) and I remember getting Joe Corrigan's autograph on my Stockport County programme when they played Sheffield Wednesday at Maine Rd in the 80s

I went to the Oldham v rags semi final in 1990 in the Oldham bit. I stood in the kippax corner next to the platt lane which had rags in it. I nearly got chucked out for goading them when Oldham took the lead. Was gutted Oldham didn't win that game, which they should have done. If they had, the next twenty years or so may have been totally different. Was weird standing in the away end at Maine Road !
