Sidestepped answering the question I see.

Not at all

Unless the people of North Korea revolt your premise holds no bounds.

And as much as you know about life in North Korea it is similar to mine so how can you possibly make such judgements about its people. You are lazily assumimg they want the failing free market mess that most of the world is in.
This isn't about free market capitalism. It is about an oppressive regime, that because it calls itself socialist you feel some Pavlovian impulse to defend it.

If it gave itself a different label, such as fascist, and operated along identical political lines you would be calling them "nutjobs".

For some one who decries the superficiality of capitalism, you seem very easily swayed by labels rather than substance.

North Korea is nothing short of a fascist monarchy which oppresses its people terribly. By defending it you undermine all that you hold dear.

Where as the U.S is a fascist empire that oppresses it's own people as well as millions of others around the world. I dare say billions.

Where would you rather live?

The U.S.A

Speak the same language.
Bigger, diverse country.

What about the people of Diego Garcia? Where would they like to live?

What country has committed more human rights violations? The U.S.A or North Korea? Which country has the larger amount of people suffering due to it's policies?

Which country has an all you can eat breakfast for Under $5.00?

You know by nature im a democrat, i believe in the power of people to have a say in the way they live.

North Korea is not a democracy as we see it but it does not mean that any state that is has the right to enforce democracy on it.

I do not defend North Korea because it is socalist because it is not, it is not communist either but i do defend the North Korean rights to self determination under whatever system they decide is right. The world through trade embagos etc has made them poor by all accounts, but they are still a proud people who seem to have far more self respect than many.

Its just always been my opinion that we leave a countries ideals to that country as our western ideals usually end in lots of death and lots of our kids dead too

Come over for the seal hunt mate. I doubt many people here know who galloway is.

The above reminds me of the interview on Radio 5 this week with a Durham ex-miners spokesman. They want their flag back from Sunderland because Di Canio supports fascists. Nicky Campbell asked if they would do the same if he supported Stalin.

"No, that would be OK."

Campbell: "Even though Stalin was responsible for 20m deaths including tens of thousands of trade unionists?".

"No, he was OK because he was a socialist who fought against fascists".
