Never attended Wigan Casino, married with kids and a house to pay for by then. Spent loads of time in the twisted wheel club 1966 to 68. I have missed the film in Exeter but have a cockney mate who used to venture north to Wigan and wants to go to Plymouth next week to see the film. Anyone seen it and is it worth the 55 mile drive for a 72 year old.
Sometimes I find drama doc films dont catch the mood of the times. Reviews welcome.

Your headline is just so wrong because the answer of course is

Yes it is F*ckin' brilliant.

BUT you are referring to the film. I have not seen it but I would tend to think it will be naff, you cannot recreate something like that. I saw the TV programme that was promoting it and it didn't look that good (the film that is)

Also is Ricky 'Loud Scouse Innocent Bastard' Tomlinson in it ? So it will be shite.

Any one seen it ?

It's got good reviews critically, have a read:

Yep Its brilliant...I have seen it twice now ....its Sooooo real especially if you were there. You don't have to drive that far to see it as it was released on DVD on the 20th October. however if you do it will be even better as the audience will all be 'old soulies' who will probably have demanded that the film be screened through a process known as 'our Screen' (where you vote for whats on at your picture house)

Its an excellent film

Really enjoyed it, great soundtrack, brilliant acting, some nice little cameo's from Coogan and John Thompson, and its beautifully shot..really captures the fashions and look of the early 70's

Seemed to capture the excitement of the scene, and the underground nature of it ( searching record shops for the "cover up")

Only downside was, without ruining it too much for everyone, it turns down a darker path, focusing too much for me, on the amphetmines and the drug side of it, moving away from the music and the dancing.

..that said, definitely a film I'd stick on and watch again
