Knew him when I lived on the Miners estate, he lived on woodstock rd top lad.
that clips funny.

I was at a do 4 years ago, Dermo and Cliff was there and I was talking with Cliff about this.
Dermo was asked to go on but he didn't check his emails in ages so they asked Cliff, he accepted and when Dermo saw the emails he was gutted ha ha.
So his mates waved him off with a load of beers at Picc station, then he's at the BBC with more beers. So the show starts and he was told to wait in this room and he would be brought out when the show starts. He gets bored waiting and goes off wandering round the studios! They come to look for him and he isn't there! They find him, line him up and on they go, and he walks out and says 'Hi, I'm Cliff from Northside''!!!!
Also, he said, as he walked out, he farted but followed through...... watch the clip again and as reveals himself (this time when he should do!) and walking over to shake Bradley Walsh's hand, you can see him picking away at his jeans, as he had shit stains ha ha ha ha.
He shook Walsh's hand as they had got pally in the green room before going on, lots of beers apparently!

That for me was their best song by a mile. In fact I listened to it just this morning.
Not heard that for years, cracking song LF and have to agree probably the best

A guilty pleasure of mine are Northside.

If there's ever been a band who's sound was 'of the time' it's them. They perfectly encapsulated a sound that was 'in' for about 6 months.

Their singles were (still are) absolute classics. Shall We Take A Trip?, Take Five, and My Rising Star. The early B-side 'Moody Places' was also a stone cold classic.

However, for me their best tune was Practice Makes Perfect which you can find on the Chicken Rhythms LP. Proper tune.

I followed them 'after' for quite a while and managed to get hold of their unreleased 2nd LP 'Pleasuredome'.

It was fucking wank.

Love northside and those songs you mentioned have stood the test of time Imo and did you know moody places is a double A-side with shall we take a trip? Me neither up until a few days ago when I got corrected by northside official on twatter. Hope they smashed it last night..

I think in fairness (and I haven't heard it, but I know a very, very small number of copies exist out there) it was only very early demos that were recorded. I asked Dermo a few years back if anything could be done with the tapes now and he said no because the quality of the demos / tapes was poor.

I went to see them at the Academy Oxford road must have been 23 24 years ago great night. Still got the album and a few 12 inches with all my other old records in the loft at my mam's.

Fair point Madeyed. The cd I had was clearly just sketchy demos, however there was nothing on there that 'stood out', probably because none of the tunes actually sounded Northside-y. I still have a vhs of them recording the first LP in the studio to.
