Today is the 39th anniversary of the 2-0 win at Carrow Rd,when the Viking theme tune was heard in the away end, stirring stuff for a 14 year old in one of my first away games following City. Was anyone else there and remember the day ?
Got the Fieldsends coach from Eccles at 7 am for a very long journey, full of excitement, pay on the gate,2 late goals from Kidd and Royle if I remember correctly.

Yes mate like it was yesterday peter sealed said the team could here the fans two miles away went with about six mates heading towards the SILVER DOLLAR bar about thirty skinheads in the distance here we go we thought but they were all Norwich girls lol bob Marley no woman no cry seemed to be the only record this pub had stayed overnight hence the phrase NORWICH nickers off ready when I come home

Yes, went down on the special train from Picc, think it was during the escort from the station to the ground that the Vikings chant started, the film had been on the telly earlier that week. IIRC that was Kiddo's first league goal since his signing from Arsenal, his partnership with Royle had been slow to take off. That game was also the start of a long unbeaten league run that lasted into February and took us into title contention.

I Was there ,I was in the Navy at the time & was based in Portsmouth ,iif my memory is correct we played Ipswich the week before & it was at that game the Viking tune was first heard I was at both games

my mate Paul used to go in the Salford Van .I jumped in it to the train station after the Norwich game

got the special for that one, great day out as i remember managed to escape the police escort from the station to get in the boozer, went to Ipswitch the week before as well.

I was there. I was living down South at the time and had to make my own arrangements with service trains. Remember I mistakenly went in 'their' end and asked a copper if it was OK for me to walk around the ground to the City end. He said I could, and so Carrow Road is one of very few grounds where I can say I've had a walk around the pitch. What I didn't appreciate was that when I got to the other end I had to climb over a ****ing big fence. Luckily I had lubricated myself in the legendary Plasterers' Arms with two pints of Tolly Cobbold Old Ale (a lovely drink, long gone, which was about 6%.) and so I had the bottle to do it.

Good game. and on the way back to the smoke reps from the two supporters clubs came round the train to recruit members. Nice touch, not the usual thing in those days.
