Not coming in the Top 4 - it's ok!!

Wish I was that confident. We cant even score at the moment ffs !!
We can keep clean sheets though, 3 in our last 5 games. It's OK though no-one believed me last year either. If you're really unsure you can get odds of about 3/2 that we won't finish in the top 4. Make some money from you misery

I agree with your post re Mancini and Txiki in another thread, things may have turned out differently if he was backed properly. Do you really think Pep won't be successful and for what reasons?..genuine question.
I realise I'm in a small minority but for me he's still not shown he has the skills to succeed in England with a club like City. His fans might say well of course he hasn't because he's never had to do that but that makes it a big gamble back in 2013 to base the whole future of your club on a skillset he may or may not have.

What he did at Barca was to mould the 2nd biggest club in the world, with all the advantages that entails, around a genius - we don't have a genius to build around and we're not even the 2nd biggest club in England.

Bayern are uber dominant and each summer poach their rivals' best players so winning the league there doesn't mark him out as outstanding. Both full CL campaigns he's overseen there have ended in comprehensive humblings by top teams. So what's he added ? Pretty football. Most passes in a game ever. Most possession ever. Not when it counted in Europe though.

Tiki taka doesn't work in England namely Arsenal. Why should it work at City with slightly better players ?

I have the same reservations as you do.Cheers for the reply.

Finishing out of the top 4 so we're in the Europa League ? Playing Thursdays/Sundays...players demotivated (think Aguero will be fired up playing AZ Alkmaar on Thursday night in front of 25k ?). Loss of income and inability to attract top class players. Lessening of worldwide profile. All sounds great to me.

Yep, summed up nicely. It would be a disaster and would set the club back 8 years

Well the board seem to be up for it

I still do not see how it would be "ok" if we do not finish in the Top 4. It will have direct impact on the players we want to get for next season... and considering that we have to conduct a MAJOR re-built, I really do not see how it would be "Ok" to have the problematic situation of not being able to offer Champions League football. It will directly result into having to spend a fuckload more on transfer fees and wages than we already are.

We already have a lot of shit average players, we genuinely only have one world class player in Kun and another (KdB) who could get there. That's it though and if we don't get the CL we might not be able to attract the level of players we want. It will be hard for Pep to have huge success with one season out of the CL and a total rebuild especially considering how many players we need replacing.

At Barca he had Xavi Iniesta Messi Henry Eto etc. He took over a Bayern side that had won the treble with the likes of Lewandowski Muller Ribery and Robben in the side. At city it's far from that, a good manager still needs great players to get to that elite level we aim for and if there's no CL we probably won't be able to attract that calliber of players. Some fans don't understand how much of a negative impact finishing outside the top 4 could have on us.

Pep and city were expecting Pep to walk in to a stable very good team, not the pile of wank we've become recently.

Bring in some unheralded younger players who have something to prove and go all out in the league whilst our challengers are faffing around in the Champions League.

I'd settle for that any day.
