Not saying thank you to courteous motorists

There must be some on here that belong to that group as so many people seem to do it
The amount of times I have right of way and delay my journey by a second or 3 and use a bit more wear and tear in my brake pads and discs to allow people out when I have right of way and get completely blanked
Not hard to raise a hand or even a knod of the head in acknowledgment of my gesture
So my question is to those that can’t say thank you is is it a conscious effort that you refuse to have simple manners and wish to portray some kind of image or do you believe it isn’t necessary and I’m a moaning b@*!#d ?
I always acknowledge a driver who has given way to let me into the lane, either by a nod, smile or when on a motorway, a quick flash of hazards. It’s being polite, having said that, it’s the way I was brought up and I like to think that’s how I am in general.

Plus taking the moral high ground makes driving so much easier ;)

That depends.....on who or what you are letting out. It's a snap decision performed in a nano second usually followed by a swift " You can fuck right off sweety"
I've been a van driver for 20+ years now, I am more inclined to let people turn right across me tbh, you can flash them early and no need to really slow down, though the hesitators then do your head in, a second flash and then a tap on the brake, a third flash and no movement still, this then elicits a very angry response lol

I would never let a person out in front of me who was sitting 3 yards off the give way markings, these drivers are a menace and best avoided at all costs.

It really boils my piss. It takes a second to put your arm or thumb up(Ooer Mrs) but unfortunately, some people think the world owes them a living. Horrible, ignorant, arrogant bastards!

Honestly though, when I lived in Malaysia, I saw so much awful driving that was clearly caused by terrible road design rather than lack of skill. Shoving on and off ramps within a few hundred metres of each other, having off ramps with several branches, making you need to guess which one your GPS is telling you to go down. I've had so many "Oh shit, I've missed the turn. That's another 20 minutes on my journey" moments, so I can understand why some people would plough across three lanes at the last minute.

I'm currently in Vietnam, and when a city is still mainly motorbike-based, it really gives an insight into how cars basically ruin everything. 99% of the time when the flow of traffic stops, it's because some moron in a car is doing something stupid. Don't get me wrong, there is plenty of idiotic driving on motorbikes too, but just in terms of congestion, it absolutely chokes a city. We all know this really, but Vietnam is almost like a real-time experiment showing it.

Many moons ago I figured I’d do my initial check out on the 747-400 to somewhere I wouldn’t be flying from Chicago, so I picked Vietnam!

It was certainly an experience, a highlight being the girls on mopeds who circle you, then one gets off, starts trying to fondle you, hoping you’ll move your hands from protecting your pockets!!!

However, I was told how to cross the street and didn’t believe it until I saw it!

Look for a little lull in the traffic if you can, and just start walking across the road. Look straight ahead, and DO NOT MAKE EYE CONTACT WITH DRIVERS!! They will go around you as long as you keep walking and go where you’re looking!

That first step was a brick shitter, as I figured I’d end up in a Vietnamese hospital and die a miserable death, but it worked a treat!! :-D

P.S. Never seen so many mopeds at a traffic light in my life!!!

P.P.S. Never been propositioned so many times as in the Backpacker District trying to have a beer!

I haven't owned or driven a car for 21 years now, but when I'm out and about walking or running, I always acknowledge drivers who stop for me when I'm crossing the road or using a zebra crossing.
Saying that, there seems to be a lot drivers about now who don't seem to understand the concept of zebra crossings!
