Nurburgring Germany

You can't get insurance to cover you when on the ring.
Correction: You probably can't get general road insurance that allows for track use, but you can get specialist track day insurance.

You can but it's a fortune. Roughly 10% of the value of the car, so £1000 for 1 days insurance is crazy.

-- Sat May 03, 2014 6:34 am --

I assume you've driven it 500+ times on Xbox/PS?

Yes. Loads on ps3, I'm at the stage where I know which corner is next at any given point, but it's very different in the real world.

Hey,

just out of curiosity, which car are you going to take? :)

Other than that I can only recommend to take it slow and do it at your own pace. Dont try to chase others, dont try to go for "fastest lap" immediately.

If a faster car is showing up in the rear mirror, go to the right side and set your right indicator to show that he can overtake.

If you got mates who have driven the Ring already before it might be worth to just take a couple of rounds with them to get a feel for it.

Never ever lose respect for the "Green Hell"...This is what happend on May 1st when someone lost focus for a second, hit the wet grass and took off:

Other than that I hope you enjoy the track day and pray for sunny weather!! :)

Make sure you have the correct insurance if your using your own car.

You can get insurance cover for any legitimate insurable risk, but general insurers specifically exclude the Nordschleife as they know why people drive on it. My last insurance policy had four days track day cover, but even that excluded it. Cover is available, but it comes at an increased premium.

Focus ST mapped to 270bhp. Really looking forward to it!
