Well lads and lasses I`ve finally got my new hip after three years of pain from arthritis and back home after surgery on Monday.
Not as bad as I expected but my thigh feels as though its got bloody lead i it as it feels that heavy.
Wonderful staff during and after the op and I`ve not got a bad word to say about anything. Thank you all at Leighton Hospital, Crewe.

I am sure you will be fine. My old HR Director (now retired but I meet him for beers regularly), had both hips replaced within a couple of years of each other. Probably due to being a marathon runner in his younger years.
Within a few weeks of each operation, he was walking around around as if nothing had happened and he still walks multiple miles each day.

Do your exercises 3 x a day and after 4 weeks or so try and increase the reps, you will feel the benefit.

I had my hip done in june and the worst part for me was sleeping, I can't sleep on my back and sleeping on your sides is a no no after the op, so I was propped up downstairs in the chair with a blanket , it took about a month to get into bed properly.

It doesn't happen to everybody but I got loads of pain in weeks 3-5 but it was my body (ligaments, muscles etc) realigning, the pain wasn't far off what it was before the OP and I'd no pain the minute I woke up after the OP, I was in a dark place as it wasn't mentioned anywhere but I woke up one day and it was all gone.

I was able to walk about the house with no crutches after 2-3 days, amazing what they can do tbh.

In this year sometime for the other hip

EDIT

I only used paracetamol and ibuprofen, 2 of each four times a day, I still have the bottle of morphine in the cupboard

Well done Oakie, although why I am saying well done to you when it should be the NHS staff I'm not sure. But hey ho. Glad you are getting sorted.
Now just make sure that you follow the instructions from the medical bods (bods not bots) and exercise and don't overdo it but also don't under do it.
All the very best for a new pain free life.

Go for it laddie. Enjoy. x
