Maybe we are waiting for the Hamburg game. League position is out of the window and the only thing we have left to play for is the UEFA cup. So maybe that is where all our priorities lie ?????

terrible start by several individuals. couldnt pass or control the ball. bridge, kompany clearly not fit to play. individual mistake meant adebayor couldnt miss. conceding early against arsenal is usually fatal, but the first substitution clearly helped us. zab was excellent at lb, the team found some confidence. for the last twenty-five minutes of the fist half. we looked classy and dangerous on the break. sadly the second goal killed the game. narrowly offside, should not have stood. looked like some players didnt fancy running themselves into the ground with Hamburg coming up, collectively the team eased off. very low key in the end, but not a bad performance, despite some moments where we looked almost totally incompetent.

rob did work hard, zab, ned, de jong and dunne had good enough games. shaun was very good for a short while. bellamy made lots of runs but was never picked out with a good enough pass. gelson was not any sort of disaster. elano was his usual self, selfish and easy to knock off the ball, whilst being classy and doing a good enough job of keeping possesion. micah was agressive but at fault for the first goal. shay was probably the best performer on the day.

bottom line is that you cannot concede an early goal against arsenal. and if you concede another at the start of the second half, having worked hard to get any foothold in the game, you are going to lose.

Felt sorry for Bellers today he was feeding off scraps and some poor poor passing. None of the through balls made it past the arsenal defence so you can't blame Bellers. It's no change as far as the fight for 7th is concerned. Spurs bubble has been burst whilst West Ham were always going to beat Sunderland. If we win our home games we could get 7th spot

Arsenal got the huge boost of Adebayor, Fabregas and Walcott coming back today. Arsenal could win the Champions League this year because they have the boost of good players coming back at a key time. We had a patched up team, and that's no preparation for an away fixture at Arsenal

There wasn't a lack of commitment in the first-half. Possibly the sucker-punch right at the start of the 2nd half just killed off any real intensity from our performace, with Thursday in mind.

Surely Arsenal are still playing for a Chumps league position. We really don't expect to finish in a UEFA position in the league, so we should concentrate on our only chance of silverware rather than trying to beat Arsenal, which was a big ask. Another couple of years then we will have a squad capable of challenging in all comps!

I'm not sure really, i'd like to think he is.
Chopping & changing managers all the time will never work though, every new manager that comes in wants his own players & then we constantly have a scene of new players coming in, players going out, the newer players needing time to 'bed in' , then changing managers again & going through it all over again etc etc & managers never given time to actually build a squad.
If the owners feel that Hughes is the right man for the job then they have to give him the time to do it his way, we have a few bloody good players at the club but we are also hugely weak in a fair few positions & imo Hughes should be given a proper summer of transfer dealing to get in the team he wants.
I think we'll have problems with getting rid of certain players as they are on decent contracts & won't leave for clubs who won't pay them the same or more, how Hughes deals with that will show his managerial credentials.
We certainly need leaders in this team & hopefully that'll be put right in the summer, it's been a problem for us for quite some time.
All in all i'm not sure if Hughes is the answer but i can't think of too many names that would come in & do much better with the squad we've got. Like i said before, we have some decent players but a top 4/6 squad it aint.

Just got back early hours this morning, the groung was good but the perfomance was bad. But having said that we did have alot of injuries but we should of got robbie and elano more into the game from what i seen. If gelson would have scored instead of hitting the post, it woukld have changed the game.

England Football Club Arsenal F.C which is also known as The Gunners is situated in Holloway, North London. Arsenal was founded as Dial Square in 1886 by workers at the Royal Arsenal in Woolwich, and was renamed Royal Arsenal shortly afterwards. In 1925, Arsenal appointed Herbert Chapman as manager. Chapman had already won the league twice with Huddersfield Town in 1923-24 and 1924-25. His revolutionary tactics and training along with the signings of star players such as Alex James and Cliff Bastin. Under his guidance Arsenal won their first major trophies FA Cup in 1929-30 and two League Championships, in 1930-31 and 1932-33. In early 1934 Chapman passed away all of sudden leaving Joe Shaw and George Allison. They both carry the successful work which was done by Herbert Chapman. As they both were coaching Arsenal team when Chapman was the manager. Therefore it was not difficult for them to handle the team and Arsenal went on to win three more titles 1933-34, 1934-35 and 1937-38 and an FA Cup 1935-36. After 1936 season most of the key players of Arsenal retired from the professional football as a result Arsenal team started to fade away. On t he top of it World War 11 started due to that professional football in England was suspended. After the world war 11 Arsenal hired Tom Whittaker as a new manger. Under Tom Whittaker Arsenal success continues as they won the league in 1947-48 and 1952-53, and the FA Cup in 1949-50.But soon fortunes turn for Arsenal as now they were unable to attract great players as they did in the 1930s.The club spent most of the 1950s and 1960s in trophy less as they were running short of great players. Arsenal then brought England captain Billy Wright as a manger but he also could not bring the club any success between 1962 and 1966. Bertie Mee took over Billy Wrigh as a Arsenal manger in 1966. After losing two League Cup finals, they won the Inter-Cities Fairs Cup, their first European trophy, in 1969-70. Arsenal won first League and FA Cup both in same season in 1070-71. Soon the success story turn into series of misses as
Arsenal began winning silverware again with the surprise appointment of club physiotherapist Bertie Mee as manager in 1966. This marked a premature high point of the decade; the Double-winning side was soon broken up and the following decade was characterized by a series of near misses as Arsenal finished as First Division runners-up in 1972-73, lost three FA Cup finals (1971-72, 1977-78 and 1979-80) and lost the 1979-80 Cup Winners' Cup final on penalties. The club's only success during this time was an FA Cup win in 1978-79, with a last-minute 3-2 victory over Manchester United that is widely regarded as a classic.
George Graham Arsenal former player was then appointed as a new manger in 1986. Graham's first season in charge brought success as Arsenal won First leagie in 1986-97 season and also League title in 1988-89.| Graham's Arsenal won another title in 1990-91, losing only one match, the FA Cup and League Cup double in 1992-93 and a second European trophy, the Cup Winners' Cup, in 1993-94. Graham's reputation was tarnished when it was revealed that he had taken kickbacks from agent Rune Hauge for signing certain players and he was sacked in 1995. His replacement, Bruce Rioch, lasted for only one season, leaving the club after a dispute with the board of directors.
The club's success in the late 1990s and 2000s owes a great deal to the appointment of manager Arsène Wenger in 1996. Wenger brought new tactics, a new training regime and several foreign players who complemented the existing English talent. Arsenal won a second league and cup double in 1997-98 and a third in 2001-02. The club reached the finals of the 1999-00 UEFA Cup losing on penalties to Galatasaray.
