Old Maine Road photos thread

Kinel Don't stare at that scoreboard whilst under the influence.
I wasn’t around for that scoreboard but it’s easy to read really. Whichever teams on the programme was A the score was 2-0, the teams that were B, the score 3-2, etc. When I first started going in ‘76, the old electronic scoreboard in North Stand, a lot of the letters and numbered lights were missing so you’d have to guess what the score was when they came up at half time:)

In a few months it will be the 20th anniversary of the last minute Robbie Fowler miss and City finishing the game with two goalkeepers on the pitch.

Not only does that me feel old, but I also wonder how many of us have now seen more home games at the ETIHAD than Maine Road?

Obviously the younger supporters, but I'm 60 and nowadays we seem to have 25+ home games every season, whereas at Maine Road we needed to get relegated to have anywhere near that.
20 years? Fuck me, where did that go...

Calling all windy corner standers

I was a main stander. I used to sit and look at all the supporters that would stand in windy corner whatever ever the weather, could be pissing down heavy rain and theyd still be there, rather than walking 10 yards to be under the roof of the kippax

Why?
By my time their we could huddle by the wall under a bit of the north stand roof

I
Remember the lads that walked round the front of the stands with a tray full of snacks and drinks. I think I bought my first ever bag of fish n chips crisps from there. Didn't taste like fish or chips.
I did that for a few games in the late 70's. Apologies to anyone here that bought from me and involuntarily 'tipped' me an extra penny on what they paid.

anyone remember the scratchcards in the 80's?
I was an "Agent" in the late 1970's and sold tickets at work.

I can't even remember what they gave you for doing it. Sometimes I'd end up buying the cards myself, although they weren't scratch cards, but had a perforated edging which you peeled away to see what you'd won.

Anyone else sell these? A lifetime ago yikes.

I used to sell those too. I can't remember what I got for doing it but I do remember that the area rep that collected the money was the guitarist in the Piccadilly Rats!
