Plenty of connections with us. Holden, Clements, Royle, not to mention some guy who specialized in 30 yd. own goals!Always had a soft spot for the Latics. Used to watch them as a kid in the 60's when City were away, as they had a few ex-Blues playing for them, Bobby Johnstone, Bert Lister & Ken Branagan. Les McDowell managed them after he was sacked by City. It was only a short bus ride up to Oldham from where I lived. Boundary Park was where I had my first experience of dipper fans at a cup tie in 1962. They were cnuts even then. It's a shame to see them Latics in such dire straits, but as is usual it seems to be down to having shit owners in recent years.

Bates bought the club in the late sixties, as I recall. That was after Bobby Johnstone & co played for them. He changed their strip to tangerine & promised 'Europe in 5 years'. Lol. I think they were in the old 3rd division at the time. He always was a bullshitter.

I heard they would go into administration this week because taking a 12 point deduction now would be better than next season. Bury already take up one of the relegation places and whoever is bottom are more than 12 adrift of Oldham

When we had our annual Christmas match "In Memoriam" at the Etihad last December I noticed the name Sandy Wann as one of those who had passed away in 2019. He was a half-back who I remember seeing play for the Latics but don't recall him playing for City. He's not listed in Ray Goble's record book of City either. Perhaps he ended up working for City ? No doubt Gary James would know.
