I know what you mean, but Cancelo has just signed a new, long-term deal and suspect this might be Walker's last season unless they open talks soon.

So we would still be light on the left.

Walker has 2 years left.

Mahrez is about to sign an extension with 10 months left.

I think there's an acceptance by all parties that after 30, contracts are shorter and signed closer to expiring.

Personally I don't see Walker being any less vital to our defence next season, and would be amazed if he left before his contract expired in 2024. If I had to put money on it, I'd put it on him extending to 2025. It might depend on where Sheffield United are at the end of 2023/24.

I hope not. Proved himself many times.

Will the squad be smaller than last year? Last year we were down to the bare bones at times. Feel like letting so many go is a big risk?
No it won't be smaller than last year, and it was only reduced last year because we suspended Mendy.

It's certainly going to be an interesting start to the season.

Most players, with a few exceptions, need time to adapt to Pep's methods. So it could be really entertaining and exciting for a lot of reasons with the projected turnover of players.

We don't need to do Arsenal any favours when it comes to add-ons, so I think £40m is about right for a four-time Premier League winner and only 25?

It's only when I watch other games on TV, I realise our team/players seem to be playing a different game to the rest!
100% the ball is in our court. Arsenal are in need of players, Looks like they are missing out on Martinez so now they've stepped up the Zinchenko talks which we've all known about the last 4-6 weeks or so. We are in a good position here to get good money for Zinchenko, His versatility, Age and more importantly is his quality ad a player.

Arsenal need to stump up if they want Zinchenko.

I have to agree regarding Walker. Surely doesn't look like he's slowing down anytime soon! Plenty of season left in the tank at this level for Kyle.

It blows my mind the number of fans who would be happy for us to pay £50m+ for Cucurella (achieved fuck all) but think £30-£40m for Zin (multiple title winner and seasoned CL player) is decent business.

I want Zin to stay but if he’s going - £50m is the figure. Arsenal paid that for Ben White (also achieved fuck all). Zin will be one of the lowest paid players in the squad, there is no reason why we should be selling below £50m.

Maybe unpopular but the way the board has treated Zinchenko has been borderline disgraceful.

You've had players come in left, right and center who perform for a single season and almost immediately are given extensions. Meanwhile Zin has continued to keep his head down and perform 90% of the time, and not woman and moan like some others(Cancelo/Laporte). Disappointing how many blues are willing to toss him to the curb for a player who was liking tweets about joining City while still a Brighton player. As much as Bernardo probably wants to join Barca, can you imagine if he did that?

I'd be gutted to see him go but 100% understand that he wants to feel valued. The guy is on peanuts compared to the rest of the squad. I can't imagine it would be terribly hard to get him locked down IF we wanted it to happen.
