Cant eat them straight off the trees....vile, disgusting things. Need steeping for about 3 weeks in basically strong saline solution or similar.

Nah, It was a crappy little primary school on a council estate in the Early 80's and it wasn't really a proper pizza. More a flat bread with tomato pure', cheddar cheese, a small hand-full of chopped black olives and some dried mixed herbs. Pretty sure I've seen the same recipe in a budget student cook book.

I once tasted one straight of a tree when I was on holiday in Greece. Incredibly bitter.
