Olives

I am 58 years old now. I hated olives for the first 46 years of my life, now I love them.

When did you start loving olives.

If you are going to post a picture of Anna Karen, aka Olive from on the buses, please do it in the specky chick thread.
I was seeing a girl a couple of years ago who used to love Marmite, got Covid, lost her sense of taste, got it back - now hates Marmite!

I used to think they were absolutely vile.
Then one evening in Krakow 10 years ago I was leathered and in need of food and our next drink came with olives, so I ate them. Either that or potentially throw up because of drinking on an empty stomach.
From that night on, I've loved them. They're right at the very top of my favourite things to eat and I've probably eaten thousands of them by now.
Good lad. Proud of you.

Hated them when I was a kid but quite like them now. Kalamata olives were the gateway drug but I'll eat any variety at this point especially the filled ones.

My grandkids and their mums and the missus love them, really can't see the attraction just salty water really

Allergic to them but not in a life threatening way. Ironically found out in Italy when I had to have fairly extensive allergy tests and a massive needle stuck in my arse (wasnt olives that caused the reaction) the day before my wedding.

Prior to that I had never joined the dots with the bone dry throat and itchiness that befell me when I ate them. I'm not the sharpest tool in the box.

Can you not have Olive oil either? That would be as debilitating to me as losing a thumb.

That was my first thought too but no it's sufficiently mild it's not a big problem. If I use a nice olive oil just as a dip then I get a sore throat but it's worth it. Cooking with it doesn't really seem to cause a problem which is just as well or I'd be absolutely screwed.
