You Brits are pretty good at this. One of the few sports a give a shit about and the yanks suck at it.

The Velodrome in Manchester must have something to do with it. And the team "mentality" that they seem to have.

Yeah, they reckon the Manchester velodrome is one of the fastest in the World and that aids their preparations, it's the national arena. However, with London 2012 coming they're building a new one in London, which no doubt will be shit in comparison and will take over as the national arena, seeing the Manchester one being shut down and demolished for apartments most likely.

The pursuit makes great TV, what are the rules exactly as they follow each other at a snails pace looking at each other then boom... they race off and its over in seconds?!

They cannot go backwards. Often on the steepest turn, the leader will lock his back wheel and do a track stand (stand completely still on his bike). Its impossible describe how hard this is especially at such a steep incline. It takes tremendous leg strength. This is to try to force the rider behind him to go in front. The rider behind him will also try to lock his back wheel as well and "stand" on the track. If either one of them goes backwards in the process they have to start over. Track bikes do not have a free wheel so if you pedal backwards you go backwards. That is the only rule I know of. You can even pedal off the track on the blue strip below.

Its ideal to be behind the leader when it kicks off so you can draft behind, you can see him and he has to strain to see you.

FFS!!!!

The fucking show jumping in these Olympics is being held in Hong Kong, a 3 and half hour flight from Beijing and that tory tosser Coe and his mates can't be arsed to travel 2 and half hours up the road to guarantee further successes.

The more i hear about the Larnden games the more i hope it falls flat on its southern money grabbing arse.

A very good question. There answer is that Manchester is 'too far away from London', try teling that to the equestrian teams who just competed in Hong Kong rather than Beijing. It's basically another North/South thing, they want everything to be based in or around London because London is all thta matters, forget whether or not it might be detremental to a successful team, jut as long as it's in the south everything's fine.

That's just bloody ridiculous, as your points show. We have such a tiny Island that has nowhere near the distances of other countries that have hosted the games.

Money being thrown away.
