Most porn isn't renown for it's depth (ooh er Missus) It doesn't need to be. It's purely functional.
I think a lot of women read it because it's unusual for this type of media text to be produced and marketed for them. In the face of so much male- oriented porn, I imagine it was a bit of a rebellion against the hubby . Maybe for some women it was a real eye-opener. This element of sexuality is not often, openly discussed. Maybe some really got off on it...
Personally I've not read it, but if it made some girls feel happy and tingly in their special place, then good for them :-)
A rebellion against the hubby? Why do you say that. Mainstream Porn for men isn't about their being subjected to what this character is, it's usually the opposite.
And that is what is a bit disturbing.
A lot of women fantasise about domination.
But it is just that. A fantasy. Not real and I imagine very few of them would actually like it to happen to them. So they live it, vicariously, through a badly written character in a badly written book
Mmm. Ok.
In that case they are a bit repressed in my honest opinion. They need to kick out and live a little.
It's just sad that a book about the oppression of a woman, however sexed up and glossed, is the darling of so many women.
