Eto is great, but we really don't need another striker.

How many times does this need pointing out, Mancini said (when Tevez was expected to stay) we have 3 strikers i want 4. We wont buy Eto'o, the only way we probably will strike a deal for him is a swap for Tevez, leaving us with Dzeko, BalotellI, Aguero and Eto'o.

He had his best season last season, and would be an excellent swap for Tevez. If Tevez stays we wont even go for Eto'o. If you believe we do or dont need any other strikers Mancini thinks differently, if Tevez goes.
If Tevez goes, which I doubt, it wouldn't or shouldn't be Eto'o. By the way Mancini also wanted all his signings in before training camp. Mancini doesn't always get what he wants either :P

So in that sense he is just like me. ! Wanted Pastore, Aguero, Vertonghen, Enrique. Insteand I got Aguero, Savic, Clichy, and Not Pastore. I am not doing too well this offseason. :)

That's the thing though, I really do think Tevez will stay as long as his 'form' permits him. He's almost certainly staying this transfer window (for more discernible reasons). Eto'o is probably the best goal grabbing striker in the world, he's just not what we need. We can't have everything; especially when we've almost got everything.

I cant understand this "we have got enough forwards" attitude. For a few weeks we could be OK both over a full season we will get injuries, suspensions and burnout. We should learn from Spurs CL adventure and must get cover of an adequate level.
Chelsea and United our biggest rivals have both got 6 strikers. If Tevez goes we have 3. If we rest Silva, (or worse he gets a bad injury!), we look toothless and without creativity in midfield. Mancini was right we need at least two.

Who are the six for both teams?

United have 3 main strikers. 4 if you include Michael Owen, who plays 5 minutes every 10 games. People here want Sammy Eto'o to be our 4th striker. LOL.

With Macheda and Welbeck going nowhere they seem to have:

Rooney, Berbatov (may be sold), Hernandez, Owen, Welbeck, Macheda, Diouf (may be sold). Is Obertan considered a forward or winger?

Chelsea have: Torres, Drogba, Anelka, Kalou, Sturridge, Kakuta (winger/forward)

This is the scenario most worrying to me. We are totally screwed without señor Merlin, and we need to get a replacement in asa(f)p!!
Someone who can fill his shoes when he's out or to play along side of him when it's called for. I said it a thousand times but I don't know of anyone more suitable for that jib than Mata from Valencia.
he would not only do the above, but he would also offer Silva a friend, someone he can talk to. Every time I see him on the OS videos, he looks so lonely, never talking to anybody else... we need to keep him happy at all costs! And while at it, why not get one of Europe's best creative midfielders in at the same time?

Difference is, we WILL be going for every competition this year even the League Cup, we want to always field a strong squad. Even with 4 strikers they would all get a good amount of games, some obviously more than others. At the moment we have 4 strikers, whos 4th striker now then? Dzeko? LOL

Anelka
Drogba
Torres
Sturridge
Possible Lukaku
????

Hernandez
Rooney
Berbaflop
Owen
????
????

Dzeko
Balotelli
Tevez (maybe)
Aguero
Adebayor
Bellamy
RSC

I believe our focus should now firmly be placed on getting rid of the strikers we don't need, before bringing in a new one.

-- Tue Aug 02, 2011 5:22 pm --

Forgot about Kalou.

P.s. if you're gonna name Wellbeck add Guidetti to my list. We don't need another striker.

I think it's safe to say that RSC, Bellamy and Ade are out of the equation. They haven't even participated in out pre-season and will most likely never again play for our squad.
So with those out, and Tevez soon gone, we absolutely need an additional striker, especially as I feel Mancini will play at least two of them at the same time quite often.
Higuain would be fantastic!
