Opposition view: Arsenal

"Laurent Koscielny and Mesut Ozil. Koscielny is the best defender in the league and his development at Arsenal has been nothing short of magic. He’s so crucial to our defensive set up and his presence has become all the more important given the absence of Francis Coquelin. Ozil operates at the other end of the pitch and he is finally starting to show England why Wenger broke our transfer record for him. He is the best creator in Europe by a mile and despite Arsenal’s lack of genuine goal scorer, he’s racked up the assists this season and that says all you need to know about his genius."

Both very good players but think he needs to take the rose tinted glasses off.

I might be accused of the same thing but is it really that easy to argue against what he said? Kos is easily one of the best 2/3 defenders in the league, and in fact id struggle to name anyone better then him apart from Kompany. But right now based on form and the fact K isn't playing (and also has had a dodgy season or 2 recently) its not hard to see why someone slightly biased would say Kos is the best in the league.

Regarding Ozil, nobody is saying he's the best player in europe but in his position, is there a better play right now? His stats back up the fact he is the best in europe right now in that attacking midfield role.

"The signings under Mark Hughes were pretty average except for Tevez" - Zabaleta, Kompany, Barry, De Jong, Lescott... Robinho finished top scorer in his full season and Tevez will always be tainted with his behaviour in Munich and subsequent behaviour. Yes, Mancini got them playing as a team but he's guessed those opinions.

The bit that got me was the Tarquin in typical Tarquin fashion doesn't believe we have a sustainable business model. When are they going to wake up and smell the coffee?

Aye, it was Hughes that was average.

To be fair I think the guy probably assumed that Vinny, Zaba & co came after the Sheik arrived. Don't get the rave reviews about Koscielny & although I rate Ozil he's a pale imitation of Merlin

Ozil has been wonderful for them this season, I suspect he has more assists and goals than oor Davie? Certainly been fitter anyway

He checks his facts first then. I was having a back and forth with a West Ham fan the other day about Avram Grant and made sure what I was saying to back up my points was truth. If I'm never sure about something then I ask or look it up. Especially when it's being published.

I've just woken up, smelt the coffee and wondered why you seem so perturbed?

You have for some reason misquoted him. His point was that you had to spend heavily to get to the level you are at now.

Currently you are working to get a sustainable business model, meaning inter alia, you begin to live within your means.

Why so sensitive, seeing sleight where non was intended.

We've had a "sustainable business model" as you put it all along, its just all you (sky 4 and spurs fans) buried your head in the sand, hoping that UEFA, and its corrupt tossers inventing FFFP would come riding to rescue you from little ol' city. It failed, and when you finally stop waffling on about money, and sugar daddy's, and getting bored, and finally read, understand and realise what is actually going on (as I posted in the Guardiola thread), it will be far too late.

Some very typical Arsenal fans responses to those questions. Koscielny the best defender in the league? Nowhere near, he's a good defender but he's not a great defender, Although the fact that Arsenal have had poor centre backs for the last decade probably clouds his judgement. You can see how having a competent defender would lead them to over react.

His description of Ozil is way over the top, he's never been the best creator in Europe, nevermind by a mile, however, you can't deny he's in superb form right now so you can maybe overlook the over the top description.

The one that got me was the comment about Cech. Not slating him in any way, he's a great keeper and a great signing for them, but the whole "had to change the description of the definition of a good goalkeeper" comment, as if they've never had a good keeper before. Unless he's still at school, does he not remember Seaman?

Not sensitive at all just wondering as to when the penny will drop that we're currently operating under a sustainable model.

You may need some stronger coffee.

We're at the sustainable business model stage now mate and have been for a fair while.

I agree with Peoffrey - maybe I'm a pedant but I do like to get my facts right first before discussing things with opposition fans. Nevertheless, the Gooner seemed decent enough but we can't be having these sensible opposition fans giving an opinion on our club - it gives us fuck all to moan about!
