I'm a bit confused by his 'I will also be honest though and say that the Premier league is now a 4 club competition, and that poses it's own dilema for the future of clubs like Everton' comment. Was it not just a 3 club competition before the Sheikh bought us?
Ahh, fair do's, makes more sense.I think he meant that when it was a three club competition, there was always one Champions League place up for grabs (which Everton got twice). Our takeover effectively ended their hopes of finishing in the top four for the foreseeable future (although Chelsea's implosion this season has opened the door to others).

He may have meant that, but would have been wrong. The "Sky four" dominated the Champions league places well before we became a force.
Fair do's bud. As regards Martinez I thought the rags made a mistake picking Moyes rather than him at the time although with hindsight I'm quite happy the way it worked out ;)Hi folks.
My point about it being a 4 club competition is that there are now 4 clubs 'in my opinion' with a shout at winning the league, in Chelsea, United, Arsenal, and City. It wasn't necessarily a comment directed specifically at City or relevant to the top 4, nor was it a suggestion that things haven't been like that in the past.
The billionaires are truly in control, and it's not much consolation to find that the 2 other teams who have recently competed for top 4 status in Spurs and Liverpool are also owned by billionaires. I think Van Gaal has spent more since his arrival than Everton are valued as a club, and we're all aware about the spending power of City and Chelsea. We can go back 20 years since Blackburn won the title, otherwise all titles have been won by those 4 clubs.
This season is a bit crazy. I don't know if the standard of mid table sides has improved, or the top teams have gotten worse, (maybe both) but the league this year is very open.
I can't say more, as struggling to put words together as is, as absolutely shattered and not a good time to be discussing facts or opinions at 1.00am, but let me wish you well for our game, and all the best for the year.

I'm looking forward to a good match tonight.
I think their biggest mistake was not giving Moyes more time. Anybody that took over Ferguson was going to have to deal with the crash, and the ego's of players such as Ferdinand (ironically gone) was going to be a problem for any new manager. Ferguson got out at the right time, and in my opinion he looked at his team, and looked at the emergence of City, and bailed. Gone are the refereeing decisions that constantly suited Ferguson, and they now have to rely on performance, but it's a big transition. I look at their team, and often don't recognise players. This is because either they are low key signings or academy, or that I just have little interest in them anymore since they sacked Moyes, who I was very fond of. It would be inappropriate for me to be over critical of Martinez whilst writing under our websites name, but I'd love to be able to have a one on one with him, and question him, without allowing him to waffle around avoiding answering, like he does with the press. Do you remember when you used to ask your parents "How long?" and they would fob you off with the reply of "Soon" ? If we win the cup or not, my attitude towards Martinez wouldn't change. The league is the most important thing for me, and I think Martinez lacks the experience to succeed in it.
Well, stage one complete, and we're still in the tie.
I thought City started well, and we looked a bit nervy, but we grew into the game and didn't really look back. A lack of concentration gave City the opportunity they'd been waiting for and they took it well, but a good response from our players. We might have scored a few more, but bottom line is we didn't. Look forward to the next game and hope you enjoyed yourselves last night.
