Given the obvious problems that are hurting behind Manchester City, the technical department responsible for preparing measures. In winter market views defined objectives, and Rob Newman, the greatest exponent of the English club scouting in the Iberian Peninsula, witness live the classic between Porto and Sporting Clube de Portugal for closely monitoring Nicolas Otamendi (25). The Argentine player like Manuel Pellegrini and the "Citizens" could make a proposal for a pass. Currently linked to Porto until 2015. His buyout clause is 30 million euros

He's decent, not great. He's a proper Argentinian centerback, a real warrior, but he's probably only Porto's 3rd best centerback now (after Maicon and Mangala). He was heavily expected to go to Atletico for about £10m in the summer, but they ended up gettingAlderwereld instead. He'd do a job, but he might get exposed a bit in the air

No. Otamendi is the 2nd best.
Mangala takes Maicon's place and actually he's the best center back playing in Portugal.

Manchester City are stepping up their pursuit of Porto defender Nicolas Otamendi ahead of a potential January swoop, Goal can reveal.

City scout Rob Newman was made a trip to Portugal last week, where he watched Argentina centre-half Otamendi and long-term target Eliaquim Mangala impress in a 3-1 win over Sporting Lisbon.

City made enquiries for the £35 million-rated Mangala in the summer and although the Premier League side maintain an interest in the France international, Goal understands 25-year-old Otamendi has become the priority for manager Manuel Pellegrini.

Porto value the defender at £25m and with City having made an indifferent start to the new season - despite bringing in new talent to the tune of over £100m - the club are prepared to open their cheque book again.

Without captain Vincent Kompany, who is yet to recover from a thigh injury which could keep him out of his side’s next three games, City have looked vulnerable defensively, particularly away from home where they have already lost on three occasions.

Pellegrini tried to bolster his defensive ranks over the summer but failed in his attempt to tempt Real Madrid centre-half Pepe to Etihad Stadium, while the club also made enquiries for Mangala.

Ultimately, City managed to sign only 32-year-old Martin Demichelis on a two-year deal from Atletico Madrid on deadline day, and with no talks planned to extend the contract of Joleon Lescott, whose deal expires in the summer, the club are ready to spend when the window reopens in January

Otamendi instead of Mangala would imply signing a squad CB for less money rather than an instant starter.

Mangala is a stud, but Otamendi has the better foot skills. Personally I favor footballers who have skill, regardless of position. That said, Mangala is no slouch in that position either. but if the cost is prohibitive, Then give me Otamendi. He is a solid footballer.
