Is there a rule against that?

I actually don't know, but I reckon it'd make for an unnecessary media reaction if he didn't go. They'd probably feel offended and spin stuff even more.

Contracted until 2022 and will be 31 in a fortnight. I'm in no rush for him to leave but if he wants to this summer it will probably be the last chance the club can get a decent fee for him.

If he wants to leave, he can leave.

We can still get a few quid for him and a replacement shouldn't be too hard to find.

Tosin will almost certainly never be good enough to be even our backup.

So Sandler and Garcia, with Kompany occasionally and unreliably being fit to play?

    What's the latest on this?

Alderwiereld is available for £25m this summer, if Otamendi actually wants to leave to be first choice somewhere we could feasibly replace him for no transfer cost.

He's had some good battling performances recently so it'd be a bit of a shame to see him go, although I'd still consider Alderweireld better.
