Our attack - what's off?

I think Messi will get done and that would solve our creativity & goalscoring issues anyway, but I think it will be Haaland, the Paul hirst/Gaughan pieces clearly came from the club and if the club wants to get it done then it will be.

Messi is fantastic but I'd much rather we used the cash to fix some of the huge deficiencies that we have. We need a creative midfielder, a new #6, a LB and a striker. Messi is the best player I've ever seen, but he's going to be 34 next season and is on nearly a million a week. That's not a sensible signing when we have other needs.

Not going to have the Messi argument again when it's been decided 100 times already on the transfer forum but anyone who thinks Messi wouldn't solve the creativity problems in this side is absolutely mad.

The most creative player on the planet. The biggest defender magnet in the game. One of the most clinical finishers in history. A man who has spent his life unlocking defences.

Good example why fans shouldn't run a club.

He's got limited time left at the highest level. I loved the idea of him coming this summer, but it's a massive and ridiculous outlay of cash when so many other areas need addressing.

Final point. Pep should get more out of the talent he has. Simply buying Messi can't be the answer.

Must be the only team that get in double figures for corners every game and literally do bugger all with them ..When was the last time we scored from a corner ? Do we even bother practicing them ? ..Could and should be a big weapon in our armoury given the amount we get ..

Massive outlay, yes. Our owner's are investors not speculators, look at how football finance gurus howled in laughter when the takeover happened, throwing away money, they said. Look at what they have now, one of the few clubs without debt, pre Covid new sponsors added and eating into the fan bases of the Red world. If Messi comes I don't think it will be solely to play or as a short term problem solver. There will be financial and publicity elements planned, it is unlikely that it would not be considered as a long term investment, if not only for City but the entire group.

Got any links to those Dom?

It's not the whole problem but a big part of it is that some of our attacking players just aren't very good finishers. It's been a recurring theme for far to long.
