Our best corner takers

Phil is actually a very good corner taker, if we had more of an aerial threat he'd get way more assists.
Akanji and Dias aren't good attacking corners. Haaland got a 50p head. Gvardiols OK.
Only consistent propers threats are Ake & Stones who are always injured and Rodri.

The Bobby McDonald back header from the near post was the most prolific cause of mayhem from corners that I can remember. Surprised that it never seeems to be tried these days.
I remember that & it was very successful at the time but I cant help feeling Bobby Mac must be getting a bit old to try it these days?

From what I saw at spuds away in the cup,,Jacob wright ,,I would honestly play him just for that reason the amount of corners we get ,,think he took 3 maybe 4 and they were all top draw

HInchliffe was a great corner taker. He bulletted the ball over and you only had to let it hit yer 'ead! I saw him take a driven corner right onto Big Dunc's head and rocketed past Schmeichel! Yeah, EFC v The Rags. We were in the family enclosure at Goodison and we were right in line with delivery and header. Thing of beauty.

According to the Premier League we have had 131 corners the most in the league.

Comparison with current top 4.
City 131
Arsenal 101
Chelsea 93
Liverpool 87

Fwiw I don’t think we practice them they don’t look rehearsed. Can’t say I have ever seen any in training videos.

Nicolas Jover is Arsenals set piece coach and he joined Arsenal in 2021 from City. Since his arrival, Arsenal have scored 46 goals from corners the most in that time span of any PL club.

Another interesting stat is city have the highest no of short corners taken this season whereas Arsenal have the lowest no of short corners percentage. Arsenal hardly ever use the short corner whereas city very often.

Why do we not make any effort to stop rivals taking our staff? More importantly why do they want to leave the best club in the country for a rival? Are our wages shit compared to others?

The ‘holistic’ approach. If people want to leave we give them a cuddle and wave them off.

I think another stat would be useful - percentqge of short corners taken that end up passed back to the halfway line!
