Our biggest ever game?

For the club to grow globally it is the biggest game , we will be 180 minutes from a Champs League final , but as a supporter my disillusionment with this tarnished competition means i will never consider this game as more important than the bread and butter of a Premier league title or an FA Cup Final .It might sound small time , but if we did eventually win the Champs league , i will never forget how UEFA screwed our club over FFP , with the sole intention of excluding us from the elite of europe .BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

This potentially is our most prestigious game ever, but definitely not our "biggest". Importance of games is totally relative. To win and progress to the last 4 of the most elite competition in world football is a very big deal, but the future success of the club does not rest on this game as it did at Wembley in 1999 or even at home to Newcastle in 2004. Defeat in either of those games could have resulted in the club not returning to the top flight for decades; the ramifications of defeat tomorrow do not come anywhere near close to that.

People saying that the CL QF is the biggest game in our history. We've obviously never been this far in the premier European trophy but is it the biggest?

Some obvious contenders are the QPR game, the Derby a few games prior to that. Then there's the Gillingham play-off final which, had we not eon it might have affected our whole recent history.

I'd even go back to 2006/7 under Pearce when we were in danger of relegation and went to Boro and won, at a ground we didn't usually won at. Had we lost that, relegation would have been a real possibility a decent maybe the Thaksin/ADUG takeovers might not have happened.
Its obviously a big game Col, cos you're now going :-)

I always like us to do well but I wont mind too much if we go out Tuesday, as long as we make the top four next year. I don't think we have the strength this year to win, (except with exceptional good fortune, like Chelsea had for their only CL win).

My concern is we get knocked out in the semi by Barca/Real/Bayern and the added distraction from the PL lets the rags or West Ham get the 4th placed spot.

Next year under Pep I think we will have a stronger squad and better mentality to push for that elusive CL title.
