After watching last season, and all the pre season this year. In my eyes there is a choice of De Jong or Silva as being our most important player, and I'm including Carlos Tevez in this

The longer last season went on the more influence Silva had in games and this has continued in pre season. In the three games in the US, there was only one half of football when we looked at all fluent and that was the 1st half v Galaxy, and that was because everything was running thou our Spanish superstar. His vision, ball control, awareness of space is unrivalled in our team, and he was linking extremely well with Mario until, and just after, the backheel incident. Once he went off we lacked any idea of direction going forward and were very one paced

De Jongs influence last year was just as important, he makes us seem so much more secure, and starts so many moves that when he doesn't play I start to feel nervous, and because of this he makes our centre backs look much more at ease.

A tough one for me, but we are set up well defensively and Yaya /Milner can fill in for De Jong but we have no one that can do the things that Silva does

That is all and thank you for your time to hear my ramblings

I think Kompany, De Jong and Silva are all essential if we want to do well this season. If these stay fit and play to their best we have a very good chance of having a great season. The rest of the team will benefit from these guys playing consistently. I don't think our defence looks anywhere near as solid without Kompany, our midfield looks shaky and uncertain without De Jong and our attack looks too predictable without Silva. We can still win games without these three but we will win with much greater ease (and more often) with them in the team. IMO ;)
