Our most improved player?

He might not be good enough as a RB but he’s a good right sided midfielder & contributes more than Savio at the moment.

No, he isn't.

He's arguably our worst player - obviously that doesn't mean he's totally rubbish, but he's so far off the level of playing midfield for a club the standing of City.

He’s improved and has been one of our better players, however I’d like us to find specialist full backs that fit our system and are good enough rather than continue down this line of converting midfielders to full backs. It’s cost us this season, it’s cost us before in the Champions League, and the club’s defenders who can naturally play there from their side at CB can’t stay fit enough like in 2023.

I like the lad, looks like he really wants it, has a strong mentality, and has that dog in him. I’m really hoping his spell in defence has taught him what playing in a Pep side is all about, and just maybe he can get back to playing in midfield, so we can make proper use of his transitional skills

Your opinion & you’re entitled to it but IMHO he definitely is NOT - by a long way - our worst player.
He’s been played out of position all season & when he was allowed to get forward for a spell, he made the difference.

End of discussion as there’s nothing left to say because we’ll obviously never agree

Safe to say time will prove me right.

Nunes will never ever play regular football for City as an attacking player - barring an absolute catastrophe.

He'll end up being sold to a mid level club and that'll be it.

Nunes has been good 2nd half of the season. He's good going forward but needs a fair bit of work on the defensive side of his game to play at RB. He's made a few mistakes but no more than Gavrdiol did at LB and many are putting him forward for POTS.

Needing to free up some foreign spots in the squad means he might well end up going but I wouldn't mind him staying.

Nunes has been an experiment in every position he's been put in.
To differing degrees of success and failure.
The problem is that his successes don't even nearly reach the levels we are wanting to regain.
We have too many non-impactful players, and he's one of them.
For his own career sake he needs to find a club that will value him in the position he wants to play in.

Kyle Walker was the best right back in the world.

Nunes at right back wouldn’t even be top 10 in the division.
Walker being the best right back in the world proves my point even further.

Even the best right back in the world had lapses in concentration and made mistakes that cost us goals, at his superb City best. So, we shouldn’t focus on Nunes’ mistakes that cost us goals, rather we should focus on his huge improvement and potential as a good right back.

Where he has flaws, which are still being improved on while he learns the position, he has been one of our most creative players this season and would get far more assist from right back than Walker ever did.

Not even saying he should be our long term starting right back, but if we know he can play there and also on the wing and in midfield, he could be a hugely important squad player for us. Every squad needs players like him.

Fabian Delph wasn’t in the top ten left backs in the division but we got 100 points with him playing there more than anyone.

I think it shows just how far our standards have dropped if Nunes is being considered our "most improved player".
When our standards were sky high we’ve had Delph, Zinchenko, Gómez, Mangala, Mendy, Cancelo at his worst, Steffan, García, Grealish at his worst, Lewis, Phillips… who all played for us when we were the best team in English football history.

Christ, even Haaland at his worst is less effective than Nunes.

And I think every one of us agree that none of them were good enough for us and shouldn't have been anywhere near our squad, let alone starting 11.

And I think every one of us agree that none of them were good enough for us and shouldn't have been anywhere near our squad, let alone starting 11.
Yet Delph and Zinchenko were great in 100 and 98 point league winning teams, Gómez was seldom seen yet did a job when required, Mangala played in the 4-1 win against Spurs in the Centurions season and had Kane in his pocket, Mendy had his moments, Cancelo was hot and cold but did some great things and had some elite level games, Steffan gave Ederson some respite and had a few good games, García was seldom seen but did a job when required, Grealish had some great games, Lewis isn’t even as good as Nunes but he’s had some very good games, Phillips has been a disaster signing granted…

But they all show that even the very best teams have and need squad players who aren’t at the standard of the rest of the squad but do a job when required, and Nunes has certainly done that, he’s genuinely been good in the second half of the season where our club captain and starting right back fucked us off and our youth product isn’t as good as him. He should be commended for that, especially since he’s never played there before.

I don’t recall any team ever having a full squad of players who are at an elite standard. Yet those fringe players who can and have to do a job are important.

If squad players were brilliant, they’d be sold to a club where they’d start. So you have to get the most out of the more realistic notion that squad players aren’t at that level but can be relied on.

Thats not the question.
Best player: No.
Most improved: I'd think so.

A good few of our players have regressed this season and it would be interesting to know who is your "most disimproved player"

I understand the sentiment and I expect most posters to nominate Nunes. I can also think of a few previous signings who were worse

However, I don't recall this question being asked when we won the PL
