Its Guinness time any day of the week.
Just reading an article in the Mirror,where Sergio has blasted critics on our supposed "big spending".
Details are given of the Top 10 spends since this summer :

PSG = £130M
Chelsea = £100M
Zenit SP = £84.5M
Bayern M = £62M
Spurs = £60M
United = £57M
City = £54.5M
Liverpool = £50.5M
Juventus = £47.5M
Inter = £41M

Thats nice to see City,but did we fall off of a cliff,with some of our mediocre signings ??

Has this not been covered enough?

We tried to sign world class players and failed, we did however sell players do they had to be replaced. Are the replacements better than the ones that left, in some cases yes and in others no, without full knowledge of what De Jong etc said to Mancini we won't know if they forced a move meaning we had to sell.

I think you`re missing the main point which boils down to our spending,or lack of it,depending on your point of arguement.

Fair enuff if we tried to sign world class players and failed but the back ups are nowhere near value for money. Javi Garcia for 15M+, when the likes of Dembele went for less and surely much better players out there for that value. 12M on Rodwell who is injury prone and when fit, average at best. I understand this is not FIFA when you buy top class players overnight but people are talking as if we are bargain buying when we are clearly not the money spent could have been spent on better players. I blame Mancini and our scouting system overall. 27M+ for the 2 players above is not astute in anyway and im fed up with excuses.

Do these figures take in to account money in from players sold?

Thought it was all about net spend these days.

No it confirms incoming players transfer fees only.

This surprised me, Bayern M = £62M
I thought they did things the right way and hated teams who spent heavily. Wonder how much the rest of the German teams spent compared to Bayern

Still hoping Garcia turns out to be something special and I can see potential with Rodwell if he overcomes his injury problems.

Sinclair and Maicon are baffling though. The thing that annoys me is there were good alternatives as similar prices like Dembele and Corzola yet we didn't seem to be interested in them.

Liverpool in wasting enough money to make the top 4 shocker. Can't even remember who they bought? Loaned Sahin, bought Borini and Allen... anyone else?

40 million Euros alone for Martinez, 13 million for Mandzukic. 70 million Euros overall

The next in line Mönchengladbach spent 31,4 mill. Euro, Wolfsburg 26,6

Dembele went for £15m, so not a lot of difference there. Also you're forgetting City tax. A player who costs any other club £10m costs us £20m so no point saying "we could've gotten other players cheaper" because no, we couldn't - especially not buying players from other PL clubs.

Their windfall as winners of the CL was a "massive" bonus for them and we can only envisage that maybe some of these signings may not have happened otherwise.
Well thats what I want to hear !!
