I put an extra £20 on Chelsea win (£84 return inc. stake)

And I've only spent £30, so I'm not losing any money and anything other than a City win means I'm making money

you don't get your free £20 bet stake back, just the profit. so you will get £50 return off the draw if you use the free bet on it. so with your bets as above you will get -
city win £0 profit
draw £20 profit
chelsea win £74 profit.

if you have a betfair account best use that and just bet against a city win if you don't want to lose any money.
