Paqueta Charged By The FA.

He might not have made any money out of it. He’s not betted personally.

If guilty, he’s spot fixed and given information to people in his home town form them to win money.

It’s far more serious than what Toney and Tonoli did. It’s illegal and could send him to prison as well as a lengthy football ban.
His career is over if found guilty and all at 26 years old.

Is it true that the Brazilian company he placed the bet with is owned by Betway which is the west ham sponsor ? If true, it's too fishy not to be a set up of some sort. I really do believe the influence of betting companies at all levels of football is far too much. That's where the real investigation should be. It's no wonder a few players fall foul of the system when it is basically set up to benefit the bookies. Imo the game is corrupt and the relationship between the authorities and bookies only backs this up.

Betting and football. It's mind boggling .

I watched the recent spurs City game with a long term Blue who had some mad bet on the rangers game where they lost but had more corners or something bizzare
All the way through the spurs game mate kept shouting out rangers score and should he " cash out " ...or hang on in to win £1800 for a £5 stake. He lost it all in the end ...it was doing my nut in. I couldn't give a stuff about rangers or putting my energy on their game. As if spurs City wasn't enough !!

So ,many things to bet on in football nowadays ,god knows how many coaches,.. back room staff ,managers, and players ,never mind the fans are up to their neck in all sorts of wagers ,not to mention refs and linesman ...and no way of stooping it either.bet 24/7 ..

Anyway back on point ,yes the West ham lad is about as bent as Stoke city's owners . All one big crock of shit, imo.
Bet 365 have expanded through a good business ethos, they exploited a market to great effect. They're also pretty good employers, a few of my ex colleagues joined them and never regretted it. They actually started with a few shops in the Stoke area and ran the betting concession at Maine Road under the Provincial Racing brand.

There's plenty of conflicting views on the Betting industry and it's everyone's personal opinion, it gave me 30 years of employment in different roles so I'm not going to criticise too much. However it's gone too far with Virtual Racing, Casino games and access to 24/7 internet gaming and the exploitation of betting on minor foreign events that are not as well audited as major sports. Paqueta has been caught out by these controls, should be a lesson to all sports people.

I wouldn’t have thought so much money was bet on these silly prop bets ie yellow cards.

I would have thought the amount would have been low so a large amount coming in would not only drastically alter the line but also throw up red flags as well, especially given the fact it would take a lot of money to make it worthwhile for these guys to win given they make so much to begin with!!

Exactly how it works and how spot fixing is exposed.

Poverty is rife in Brazil as is crime. He could have been trying to help poor mates out or perhaps some criminal group put pressure on him or his family.
That was my thought.

He maybe looking out for his family to make some cash from him.

Could be completely wrong mind and he's part of their village Mafia.

:)

Gutted. He would be perfect for us.

Very silly if he’s done it but it makes no sense if he has

Betway's systems triggered this alert. The circumstantial evidence will be in those systems and I suspect it will be pretty overwhelming. We all know how much bookies hate to lose!

If people on Paqueta Island barely place any bets on Premier League yellow cards and then all of a sudden there's a flurry of them on the games where Paqueta got booked, he's toast. They've clearly been far too obvious about it to trigger those alerts so quickly.
By all accounts, and I'm only going off what I've read on the internet, there were multiple new accounts set up by people on "Paqueta Island" on the days of the bets and pretty much all of them lumped the maximum amount you can stake on him getting a card(s), there's talk of a player in Italy doing it too as many of the bets were accas where both players got booked on the same day.

Not too clever.
