Paris 2024 Olympics Thread - 11th August (pg 430)

Just seen an interview with Holly Bradshaw on Eurosport. Assumed she had choked in the pole vault (not qualifying) but she came across incredibly well in her interview

Well the pole vault didn't go well. Completely bottled it there. That first height was nearly 40cm down on Caudery's world leading height this year. Maybe needed to go even lower to get into things, but she's choked there. For both to be out with three failures each is disappointing. GB need a gold to overcome these constant near misses. The triathlon should have been gold earlier, the best runner ending up third is disappointing. Yes she had a tough individual but still, they'd put her in prime position and she should have done better for me.

Hopefully the track cycling brings some gold and Hodgkinson will deliver, she has been superb but huge pressure on her later.

Molly Caudery doesn't make it through qualifying, huge cock up given she has the biggest vault this year.

I guess some athletes have an innate ability to cope with pressure but others have to learn. Hopefully this will be a learning process for her don't think she's that old so hopefully another shot for her. Would be harsh to consider it as lack of bottle given the nature of the event in the first place! But clearly something went badly wrong.
