Paris 2024 Olympics Thread - 11th August (pg 430)

Next on track:
19.55 - Women's Heptathlon - 200m

Could do with KJT beating Thiam by 1.5secs at least. I imagine the gap will be less though.

I wonder if he is even staying there. I didn’t think many of the big stars actually stayed there..

Think a lot of the athletes stay in the village. The American athletics team seem to be gathering around the TV in the hotel every night.

His girlfriend is on the Jamaican team as well.

Eventing Team - 2 women, 1 man
Mountain Bike Race - 1 man
Mens Trap - 1 man
4 x 200m Freestyle - 4 men
Triathlon - 1 man
Quad Sculls- 4 women
Jumping Team - 3 men
Double Sculls - 2 women
Trampoling - 1 woman
Mens Eight - 8 men
Team Sprint - 3 women
800m - 1 woman
Kite - 1 woman

2 mixed events (although 1 all male team)
5 men's events
6 women's events

14 women with gold medals.
19 men with gold medals.

I know what you mean though, it does feel like the women have been stronger for us.
When I was a kid GB women gold medals was a rarity. It really does seem the GB team has spread its range of events including women events and they have stepped up. The ratio seems to be evening up.

So, 6 women events and 5 mens? We still have Johnson-Thompson leading in the Heptathlon going into day 2 so we could well finish with more women than men for the first time?
